Work instructions to be followed in central waste collection area:

1- Waste skips and compactors shall be placed away from walls in order not to obstruct
movement of staff.
2- Personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, respirators, and footwear
should be used by collection employees, as appropriate.
3- The equipment used in the compaction, collection, and transportation of solid waste
shall be constructed, operated, and maintained in such a manner as to minimize health
and safety hazards to solid waste management personnel and the public. This
equipment shall be maintained in good condition and kept clean at all times.
4- Waste shall be collected with frequency sufficient to avoid accumulation of waste.
5- All solid wastes shall be stored in such a manner that they do not constitute a fire,
health, or safety hazard and shall be contained or bundled so as not to result in spillage.
6- Records shall be maintained showing number of skips removed from the facility.
7- All solid waste collection personnel should receive instructions and training in safe
container and waste handling techniques, and any other topics as appropriate.
8- Any spillages shall be dealt with immediately to avoid pest infestation and unpleasant
odors.
9- Central waste collection area shall be operated with proper lighting systems, proper
pest control measures and proper number of skips and compactors. Any findings on
such systems shall be dealt with immediately.
10- Frequent inspection and audits will be implemented to ensure the compliance of the
above points.
