The study was conducted among the students of De La Salle John Bosco
College in Mangagoy, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Mindanao.

Surigao del Sur is a province located in the Caraga region of Mindanao,

Philippines. Mangagoy is a barangay in Bislig City, which is situated on the eastern
coast of Surigao del Sur. Bislig City is known for its rich natural resources, particularly
its lush forests and pristine beaches.

Mindanao, the second-largest island in the Philippines, is home to a diverse

range of indigenous peoples, including the Lumad, Manobo, Tausug, Subanon, and
others. These ethnic groups contribute to the cultural tapestry of the region, with their
unique languages, traditions, and customs.

De La Salle John Bosco College serves as a prominent educational institution in

Mangagoy, providing quality education to students from Bislig City and neighboring
areas. The college is named after St. John Bosco, the patron saint of education,
reflecting its commitment to holistic learning and character formation.

Mangagoy, like many areas in Mindanao, boasts a blend of cultures and

traditions, influenced by the various ethnic groups residing in the region. Its proximity to
the coast also highlights the significance of marine resources in the livelihoods of the
local population. In conducting the research at De La Salle John Bosco College, the
study aims to gain insights from students within this dynamic cultural and educational
setting, contributing to the understanding of STEM education and student perspectives
in Surigao del Sur.
