INTRODUCTION

The Philippines is one of the Nation in Asia to have

passed the law recognizing the rights of Indigenous People
(IPS)This work or study use to captured a selected indigenous
people known as Mandaya and Manobo in Malixi, Tagbina,
Surigao del Sur, Caraga Region, Island of the Mindanao,
Philippines. We the researchers choose this research not just
for own understanding but also to give information about what
is happening between them.

MANDAYA TRIBE, are a complex group (mangwanga,

manrangan, managosan, magosan, pagsupan, divavaonon,
dibabaon, mansaka). A people inhibiting southern
Mindanao.MANOBO TRIBE, is one of the 110 groups of
indigenous people in the Philippines. The manobo are
mostly concentrated in the southwestern part of Mindanao.

STATEMENT

This work aims to determine the feud between the two

indigenous tribe in Barangay Malixi SDS. The Manobo and Mandaya
tribal group. This study attempts to answer the following question:

1.What are the difference between the two indigenous in terms

of their culture, tradition, practices and dialect?

2.What are the possible reason why they have conflict?

3. What is the purpose why Manobo forcing Mandaya to join

their tribe?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Manobo and Mandaya are very famous for their

distinctive costume and ornamentation. They have solid tradition

in weaving, as can be seen in their famed. The colors red, yellow

and black are the color mostly used to design their costumes,
but

both tribes have their own differences in terms of their cultures,

The tribe of Mandaya is the largest tribunal unit in

southeastern Mindanao. In 1954 Mandaya’s started to live the

place of Barangay malixi. The term Mandaya comes from the

word “Man” when translated to English it means “First” and Daya

means Upstream, when combined together it means “The first

upstream”. Mandaya Tribe uses Kamayo as their dialect to

communicate with others.

Manobo tribe is culturally rich in traditional practices,

medicinal uses, diversity, and traditional knowledge based on

their community plant resources. They dwell in mountainous

regions in the southern part of the Philippines. “Manobo” is the

Hispanicized form “Manuvu” which of course, means “People”

Tasaday is the dialect of Manobo used to communicate others.

 Based on our research, this two tribe have a conflict. In

the data that we gathered, the reason why this two

indigenous tribe have a conflict that leads to

misunderstanding because of the Manobo’s. According to

our interviewee, the Manobo’s were forcing some of the

Mandaya’s to join their group or tribe. This happened

recently in barangay malixi.

 According to the interviewee Datu Carlos Roura
the Chieftain of Municipality of Tagbina have an to end
the feud between the two tribe. Barangay Malixi is one
of the Place that Manobo and Mandaya lived.

The purpose of the Manobo in forcing the

Mandaya’s to join there is, they want their group or
clan to become the largest tribal unit in Barangay
 This study primarily focuses on the feud of the two tribe.
The respondents of the study are the selected Manobo’s and
Mandaya’s in Barangay Malixi , Municipality of Tagbina ,
Province of Surigao del Sur , Philippines.
SCOPE OF THE DELIMINATION OF THE RESEARCH

The main topic included in this study is all about the

feud between the two tribal group, the Manobo and Mandaya
of barangay Malixi, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur. It is expected
that the researchers will talk about the aspects on how this
feud affects the live of the two tribal group.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

FEUD - a bitter, continuous hostility, especially between two

families, clan and etc.

ORNAMENTATION - things added to something to provide

decoration.

CLAN - a family especially a large one.

 
RESEARCH METHODOLOY

This chapter discussed the research design , the study area,

sampling
strategy , data collection instrument, and data
processing method.
RESEARCH DESIGN

The researcher choose a survey design , it is best to serve answer the

questions and the purpose of the study.
