for you to submit your Assignment to. Select the desired module from the
dashboard.
3. Submit your assignment before the end of the due date.

PDF FORMAT. NO SCANNED DOCUMENT WILL BE MARKED.

• The process detailed above is the same on a personal computer and mobile
device. You will, however, need to ensure that you have saved your completed
assignment on the mobile device and have downloaded the CANVAS Student
Application before attempting to submit.
• You do not require a CANVAS class ID and enrolment key to access your
registered module class, as you have been allocated to the class based on your

1.1 Explain the differences between:

1.1.1 Substantive and procedural law. (4)

1.1.2 Foreign law and international law. (4)

1.1.3 Private law and public law. (4)

1.2 Certain areas of law are categorised as ‘hybrid’ areas of law since they span
across different fields. Identify and define one such area of law. (3)

2.1 There are different types of capacities where legal subjects are concerned.
Identify and describe each type of capacity and provide a practical example of
each. (9)

2.2 Use the table below to write down the subjective rights (left) and the matching
legal object (right). (8)

Question 3 (18 marks)

3.1 S and D want to divorce and ask you, a legal practitioner, for advice on civil
proceedings. You are required to provide them with the different types of
proceedings and an explanation thereof, as well as which proceeding will be
followed in the case of a divorce. (8)

3.2 Z and A want to open their own business and come to you, a legal practitioner,
for advice. Provide Z and A with the different types of business enterprises and
a detailed description of each. (10)
