a, o, u (e, i) > -vat (for example, he puhuvat

y, ä, ö (e, i) > -vät (for example, he syövät)
e, i > -vät (for example, he eivät puhu, he eivät syö)

Rule: If there is a, o, or u in the stem (= vartalo), there is a (i.e. a without dots) in the
ending (= pääte).

Verb types / Verbityypit

Tyyppi 1 (-A / -Ä)

This is the only verb type having 2 vowels at the end of the dictionary form.
puhua stem: puhu-, ending: -a
minä puhun
sinä puhut
