Action Plan

An action plan becomes a roadmap that describes the specific actions that must be

followed to achieve the goals and objectives, whether at a personal or organizational level, this

being a detailed guide that marks the path that must be followed during the execution of

strategies that in turn must be proposed to optimize efforts and resources to achieve the expected

results.

ECLKC (2018) proposes including three vital questions when designing an action plan;

starting with “what” to establish the measures you will take to achieve your goals and objectives,

the “who” referring to the responsible people and the “when” to delimit the time of action.

Likewise, the importance of the "why" stands out; it is possible to understand that this question

at the organizational level has a greater impact since from this "why" it is possible to generate the

planning and motivation of the work team to achieve the goals.

Other aspects that in turn must be considered when designing an action plan consist of

determining the measurement strategy for the execution of your project, how you will collect

data and evidence, and where the resources will be obtained, whether physical, financial, human,

and others that are required to achieve the objective.

Likewise, in the article Developing an Action Plan (2020), they corroborate and

incorporate some criteria that must be immersed in the action plans such as; results (desired

changes), goals, objectives and action steps, resources, person responsible, evaluation, identify

specific objectives, identify resources that already exist or are necessary, develop specific

schedules for each strategy, identify the person responsible for each action step and identify

criteria for success.

Continuing with the description that has been made of the action plan, the component of

the actions that are going to be carried out in fulfilling the objective becomes important, so it

must be taken into account that there are actions that are sequential and must be done in a

chronological order, since these can precede other types of actions, these must be directed from a

verb which indicates that they are things that must be executed, in the same way there are actions

that can be performed simultaneously, repeatedly or continuously.

ESIC BUSINESS & MARKETING SCHOOL (2023), justifies the action plan of a

company as fundamental for the development of the vision and mission of an organization,

suggesting the following reasons why every company must have an action plan since it

contributes the following guarantees:

• Clarity and focus.

• Coordination.

• Measurement and monitoring.

•Resource allocation.

• Team motivation.

Similarly, ESIC BUSINESS & MARKETING SCHOOL (2023) defines different types

of action plans that can be implemented in a company, each one designed to address different

needs and situations.

Strategic action plan. Focused on long-term objectives and goals.

Tactical action plan. Designed for the short term, guiding the concrete steps that must be

taken to implement the general strategy.

Operational action plan. It addresses the finer details of execution, such as daily tasks.
4

Crisis action plan. It is designed for emergency or crisis situations to mitigate negative

impacts.

Marketing action plan. It focuses on marketing actions to promote your products or

services.

Human Resources Action Plan. Specifies the actions to manage and develop the

company's human talent.

Considering this conceptual review of an action plan, it is conclusive to determine that

this is a fundamental tool, which must be constantly monitored and updated, ensuring the

efficiency of efforts and resources, to guide the execution of objectives and goals. corporate or

personal.
