1. Short Description of the Course

Learning Program Design and Assessment (LPDA) is a compulsory course and offered in Semester IV.
Students are introduced to concepts and principles of designing a language learning program, including
curriculum, material development, and language assessment. This course provides the students with
some introduction to the concept of curriculum in general and to the current curriculum used in
Indonesia and its elements including syllabus and learning interaction plan. Besides, students are
equipped with the knowledge of material development. Having the knowledge of curriculum, of its
elements, and of material development, students are also given practice to develop teaching materials
for grade-schools based on the current curriculum used. By the end of this course, students are expected
to have the ability to generate a set of lesson planning documents. This is a four-credit course with four
contact hours (4 x 50 minutes) per week. It is important to read the assigned texts and prepare
