daikaiju toward a rampage. A hunger for destruction

brethren or defend them as they run amok.
Hunger: Some daikaiju are carnivores or herbivores,
while others subsist on radiation, fire, or more
bizarre diets. Even the simplest of daikaiju-sized

farmers, fishermen, or ranchers. Exotic needs might

Complications
Roll a d4 twice to determine the primary and secondary complications. The primary complication may be an antagonist or a
supporting character or faction that creates tension in the plot without directly opposing the hero daikaiju.
SAVAGE WORLDS
The secondary complication often doesn’t enter the adventure until the second act or later, throwing everything into chaos
again just when the situation seems alright. For example, a nesting daikaiju may have finally made peace with the humans
trying to drive it out of the local volcano when a natural disaster strikes, and the volcano threatens to explode.
COMPLICATIONS TABLE
D4 COMPLICATION
Aliens: The Protostomion Consociation aren’t the only aliens on Earth. In the shadows of the world lurk hivemind
cockroaches, sapient apes from the future, mysterious near-human extraterrestrials, and the remnants of the pre-
1 human civilizations that built Earth’s Bioweapon kaiju. Alien antagonists seek to destroy or control daikaiju, treating
them as soldiers in their war with Earth. More sympathetic aliens might still attempt controlling the daikaiju, but in
the name of reawakening their forgotten purpose or removing them to a less hostile planet.
Daikaiju: Fiercely territorial daikaiju battle over control of islands, and even continents; others predate upon their
own. Sometimes daikaiju seek out mates or find orphans in need of parents. Such circumstances can establish the

origins of Followers or Sidekicks for players wishing to take those Edges. If a hero has the Dependent or Enemy
Hindrance, rolling this complication is a perfect excuse to bring that recurring character into play.
Humans: One of the most obvious human complications are military forces attempting to drive the daikaiju away,
but other options include a scientist who has invented a weapon capable of attacking a character’s Weakness, a Living
3 God’s worshipers, or criminals trying to harvest daikaiju organs. Terrorist organizations may have bases in prime
nesting sites or brainwave scanners they hope will bring the kaiju under their control. Human Dependents are an
obvious choice to involve in these complications.
Natural Disaster: In addition to genuine natural disasters, the Protostomions and other opponents have access to
advanced scientific machines such as weather-domination devices. In their attempts to corral daikaiju, even well-
meaning governments and scientists experiment with uncontrollable forces of nature. Natural disasters provide an
4 excellent opportunity to use other options from the Adventure Tool Kit (see Savage Worlds). A landslide or tsunami
might be evaded with a Chase or Dramatic Task. Hazards such as cold, disease, fire, heat, or radiation might threaten
a nesting site or complicate travel. An impending disaster might impel the daikaiju to resort to Social Conflict—
