Name: Varun Pujara AU2240218 Module 3 and day 11 of the water studio was about water supply and water distribution systems. Water is basically supplied to various factories, institutions, farms, households, and offices. It is necessary to supply water to all these sectors and areas. For this water distribution systems are a necessity for us. The water distribution system will be efficient only and only when water is sufficient enough. For water management filters, desalination plants, recycling plants and rainwater harvesting are very important. We cannot supply water to all sectors according to their requirements due to water scarcity. So, everyone would be provided water less than their requirements. Thus, the management of water in all sectors and areas is very important.
In this lecture ,we discussed other perspectives of water
and water-related issues which was water management systems. We learned about water management systems through a very interesting activity which was basically a game related to water management. In this game , we were assigned to supply water to each and every sector and charge the tax to each sector according to their usage and consumption. By collecting the water tax we need to build water storage plants, desalination plants, recycling plants, rainwater harvesting plants and filters to handle the water requirements of the different sectors. But as we build these plants environment also gets harmed which is not eco- friendly. Also, filters, desalination plants, and recycling plants function for 3, 5, and 3 years respectively. Due to water scarcity, we weren’t able to supply the water as per the demand of the respective sections. Also, we have to maintain the budget. The happiness count decreases as we supply less water and get higher taxes from them. As we establish more water plants eco-friendly count gets decreased. So, we need to maintain the level of happiness and eco-friendly count to a certain level so that both get conserved. This requires a lot of research and knowledge about water management and taxes. This was quite a good activity that lit up the other perspective on water-related issues which broadened my knowledge about water management systems. A picture of the data which we analyzed is as below :
