Axle Oil Cooler - If Equipped

SMCS - 1365; 1408

Illustration 1 g03725590

The axle oil cooling system circulates cooled hydraulic oil through the axle differentials.

The cooled hydraulic oil flows from the hydraulic oil cooler through hose (1) to the diverter manifold
(2). The cooled hydraulic oil is directed to the front axle (3) through hose (4) and to the rear axle (5)
through hose (6). The hydraulic oil flow through the coolers (7) in the axles. The hydraulic oil flow
back to the manifold through hoses (8) and (9) and then returns to the hydraulic tank (not shown)
through hose (10).

The diverter manifold (11) contains a relief valve (12) to limit the maximum pressure sent to the oil
coolers located in the axle housing. If the pressure sent to the oil coolers becomes too high, the relief
valve will open and send the hydraulic oil to the hydraulic tank.

The diverter manifold contains two check valves (13). The check valves of the diverter manifold
allow the oil from the hydraulic oil cooler to bypass the coolers in the axle housings.

The diverter manifold contains one flow divider valve (14). The flow divider valve of the diverter
manifold will split oil flow in a given amount of pressurized oil between two destinations.

Note: When the axle oil reaches a preset temperature, the hydraulic cooling fan speed will increase.
