Oil from the rear axle oil gear pump flows into the rear axle oil flow control and relief valve (1) through inlet line (2).
Rear axle oil pump pressure sensor (4) and rear axle oil temperature sensor (3) are located in the rear axle oil flow

control and relief valve (1). Pressure sensor (4) and temperature sensor (3) send input signals to the Vital Information
Management System (VIMS).

A low oil pressure warning will be given if the following three conditions exist:

z the oil pressure is below 35 kPa (5 psi).

z the oil temperature is above 52°C (126°F).

z the ground speed is above 24 km/h (15 mph).

A warning of high oil pressure will be given if the following two conditions exist:

z the oil pressure is above 690 kPa (100 psi).

z the oil temperature is above 52°C (126°F).

(11) Temperature element

The oil from inlet line (2) flows past the pressure sensor (4) and temperature sensor (3). The oil then enters inlet
passage (10). If the oil temperature is below 43°C (110°F), temperature element (11) will retract from valve seat (8).
The oil can then flow through bypass passage (7) into the rear axle housing. If the oil temperature increases above
43°C (110°F), temperature element (11) will expand. Valve seat (8) will stop access to bypass passage (7). All the oil
will flow through outlet passage (9). This oil will flow through the outlet line to the rear axle power train filter.

If the pressure of the oil in inlet passage (10) increases above the relief pressure, the pressure of the oil will compress
spring (6). Valve seat (8) will be pushed in order to allow the oil to flow through bypass passage (7). The oil from
bypass passage (7) will return to the rear axle housing.

(18) Adapter

Oil from the rear axle power train filter flows to inlet passage (12). Some of this oil goes through outlet passage (13)
to outlet line (5). This oil is used to lubricate the bearings of the differential and bevel gear. The remainder of the oil
goes through the rear axle oil flow control and relief valve (1). Spool (14) is normally positioned so that oil can flow
through outlet passage (16). This oil lubricates the bearings in the rear wheels. At high ground speeds, the high
pressure of the excess flow will compress spring (15). Spool (14) will open bypass passage (17). Oil flows through
bypass passage (17). The oil then returns to the rear axle housing.

The machine may be equipped with a cooling fan for the rear axle. If the machine has this cooling fan, the VIMS will
activate the cooling fan according to the information that is supplied by the input signals from the temperature sensor
(3).
