SLO:
Students will be able to :
 Recognize and name the flat shape ‘Rectangle’.
 Identify ‘Rectangle’ shaped objects in the environment.
 Identify and build rectangles.

Resources: SOW, curriculum implementation guide, teacher guide book, flash cards, salt
tray, door, metal insets ,You Tube videos, real life example, mystery box, sponge, slate,
duster, T.V remote, water colours, mobile phone, prayer mat, pencil colours, matchbox,
towel, brick, ruler, biscuit, chocolate bar, empty box of tooth paste, geometry box, lunch
box.

 Revisions will be done before starting the new topic.


 The teacher will ask the students to look around the class and tell me, Where is
the clock? What is the shape of the clock and cupboard?
 Then the teacher will place the “Mystery Box” on the table and clued-up, let's see
what’s inside this box.
 One by one, real things (prayer mat, match box, chocolate bar, biscuit, mobile
phone, and sponge) will be taken out by the teacher and sown in front of the
students.
 Then students will be told about the new topic, ‘Rectangle’.

 Display the flash card of the flat shape ‘Rectangle’ on the board and introduce it to
the students.
 Teach them the name of the shape and ask them to repeat it several times. Point
out the four corners. (two short, two long)
 Ask children to trace a big ‘rectangle’ in the air using two fingers and a moving
arm.
 Ask children to find objects in the classroom that are rectangle-shaped.
 Then color pencils will be given by the teacher, and each student will be allowed to
make a shape out of them.
 The teacher will demonstrate the metal inset and ask students to identify the shape
of the rectangle.

Activity:

1. Students will jump on the shape (rectangle) and feed the rectangle by sorting the
shapes.
2. The student will make a train on the board with the help of a sponge and water
colours.
3. Students are to identify rectangle shapes in “metal insets.”
4. Students will make a rectangle with the help of pencil colors on the table.

Success Criteria: students will find the rectangle shape in the classroom and then
name some real objects (sponge, door, white board, lunch box,) with rectangle shape.
AFL: Students will be assessed by the correct performance of an activity.
