Workshops on the Revised School Self-evaluation Tools

for Continuous School Improvement
Summary
The Education Bureau (EDB) will organize a series of one-day identical

workshops between April and June 2008 on the revised school self-evaluation (SSE) tools
in support of continuous school improvement. Heads of schools are invited to nominate
teachers to participate in the workshop.

Background
2. Performance Indicators (PI) are a set of important tools in support of the

implementation of the School Development and Accountability (SDA) framework.
They are developmental in nature and need regular updating to align with education
trends and the latest development in school education.
3. Since their publication, Performance Indicators for Hong Kong Schools

2002 and Performance Indicators for Hong Kong Schools 2002 – Evidence of
Performance have been serving as a common platform for evaluation of school
development by schools, teachers and the EDB. To benefit from implementation
experiences, EDB has completed a review on the PI and Key Performance Measures
(KPM) framework based on data contributed by schools’ self-evaluation, external school
reviews and views of frontline educators. The specific objective of the review is to
refine and streamline the existing PI/KPM framework to support continuous school
improvement through self-evaluation and to bring it in line with the developmental stage
of school education and Curriculum Reform.
The Revised School Self-evaluation Tools
4. The revised PI/KPM framework for secondary, primary and special schools
aims to enable schools to review school performance in a more focused manner and
suitably alleviate schools’ workload. Prior to the launch of the revised framework, a
series of workshops on the revised PI and SSE tools has been scheduled, along with a
briefing on embedding SSE as a natural process in the school development cycle. There
will be purposefully designed practicum sessions to provide hands-on experience.
5. You are cordially invited to nominate 4 teachers of your school to attend one of
the workshops. A schedule of the workshops is enclosed for ease of reference. For

QAD020080014 (for primary schools).
