Activity 6

Teenage pregnancy has become a national epidemic. Probably because a growing percentage of

pregnant young mothers are more willing to keep and raise their children. So why is this

happening? Why teenage pregnancy remain increasing? Is it because of a family problem? or

because of the influence of peers?

Poor sex education and a lack of access to birth control are the primary causes of the high

percentage of teenage pregnancies. Some females are unaware that having sex can lead to

pregnancy or do not completely comprehend the responsibility that comes with having children.

We cannot deny that many teenager today are aggressive. Social media has a major influence

here since young people replicate practically everything they see. There are also vulgar videos on

social media that everyone may watch. When children have their own babies, it comes at a high

cost to people, families, and society. Adolescents may be afraid to seek such information or may

be unaware of the effects and consequences of falling pregnant, keeping the baby, ending the

pregnancy, contracting viruses, and even diseases. So as a future teacher how can I mitigate the

problem. Although there are other methods for preventing a teenage girl from becoming

pregnant, one program that I can promote to lessen the numbers of young pregnant mom is to

educate students about sexual abstinence. Sexual abstinence for me is the only one that is 100%

successful. This is the only procedure that ensures there is no possibility of becoming pregnant

and protects the teen from STDs. For many years, abstinence was thought to be a decision based

on religious or moral convictions. Sexual prevention has no public health risks, and it must be
proved and promoted as the most effective primary method of preventing unintended births.

Sexual abstinence is taught as a means of preventing pregnancy, not as a religious or moral

belief. Various contraceptive strategies are another form of teen pregnancy prevention that is

taught in schools. Despite the fact that abstinence remains the greatest approach to prevent

pregnancy among teenagers, a significant number of them will engage in sexual encounters. As a

result, it's critical that teens be given a wide range of information on how to do so safely while

utilizing various contraceptive methods.

The true disadvantages of having a child at such a young age are unclear to most

teenagers. Teens should be aware of the harsh realities of raising a kid, as well as the severe

consequences of an unwanted pregnancy on both the mother and the child. As I previously

indicated, it is the responsibility of parents and schools to educate teenagers about the dangers of

adolescent pregnancy. When it comes to sex, parents can have a big impact on their children's

decisions if they take the time to be involved. Schools can also play a role in reducing pregnancy

by giving critical information and encouraging youth to make appropriate sex decisions. As a

result, adults must ensure that teenagers have a solid grasp of abstinence, contraception, and the

implications of sexual engagement.
