2. 36 ft = _____ yd
3. 24 ft = _____ yd
4. 10560 ft = _____ mi
5. 21120 ft = _____ mi
6. 8800 yd = _____ mi
7. 5 mi = ______ ft
8. 2 mi = ______ yd
9. 6 gal = _____ qt
10. 32 qt = ____ gal
11. 5000 m = _____ km
12. 1 m = ______ cm
13. 0.225 kg = ______ g
14. 765,900 seconds=______days
15. 300 yards=__________m
16. 80 miles/hr=___________m/s
17. 150 m/s = ____________km/hr
18. 1100 ft/s =____________miles/hr
19. 800 yd/hr=___________inches/week
20. 186, 282 miles/hr =_________m/s
II. ADDING VECTORS

A. Compare and Contrast Scalar and Vector Quantity using a venn diagram.

B. Instruction; Calculate the following problems below by:

● Sketching the vector addition for each situation, showing the resultant magnitude
and the direction.
● Using the Pythagorean Theorem in finding the resultant magnitude
● Using the simple trigonometry in finding the direction and the angle of resultant.

1. An air traffic system detects an airplane takeoff. The plane travels 10.4 km west, 8.7 km
north. How far and in what direction is it from the takeoff point?
2. A person walks 25.0° north of east for 3.10 km. How far would she have to walk due
north and due east to arrive at the same location.
3. The path distance from the garden to a school is 5 m west and then 4 m south. A builder
wants to build a short distance path for it. Find the resultant vector of the shortest path.
4. A force (F_1) ⃗ of magnitude 6.00 units acts on an object at the origin in a direction
θ=30.0° above the positive x-axis. A second force (F_2) ⃗ of magnitude 5.00 units acts on
the object in the direction of the positive y-axis. Find graphically and analytically the
magnitude and direction of the resultant force (F_1) ⃗+(F_2) ⃗.
5. Francis was observing an ant that crawled along a tabletop. With a piece of chalk, he
followed its path. He determined the ant’s displacement by using a ruler and protractor.
The displacements are as follows: 2 CM East; 3.5 CM, 32° north of East ;and 2.3 CM,
22° west of North. Find the magnitude and the direction of the resultant vector.
6. A boat is moving East at 10.0 meters per second. A strong current is flowing North at 5.0
meters per second. What is the resultant vector for the boat's velocity relative to the
shore?
7. Two dogs are pulling the same bone. One pulls to the west with 50 N force. The other
pull to the south with 30 N force what is the resultant force and the direction of the bone?
8. A hiker walks away from base camp 30 km north, then 20 km east, 50 km south then 40
km west, then 45 km north then 35 km east.Exhausted he radios to the base camp to come
get him. Which way and how far his rescuer have to go to get him?
9. A plane is flying North at 100 meters per second. A strong wind is blowing East at 20
meters per second. What is the resultant vector for the plane's velocity relative to the
ground?
10. Robert is pulling his little red wagon forward with a force of 230 N by holding at a
handle 60 degrees angle. His twin is pushing the wagon with the force of 300 N. Find the
magnitude and the direction of the resultant force on the wagon.
