FM/HO/QFS/024 MEETING REPORT

 The supplier company name is ‘Green Flame Gas’

The meeting is to discuss the supply
1  The scope of the supplier is provision and installation of Gas detector and
and installation of the Gas detector
associated materials, and the preventive maintenance for installed systems.

 The supplier offers various types of gas detectors in their inventory.

 After inspecting the central kitchen, the supplier recommended the
installation of 18 gas sensors (detectors).
 Each detector covers a radius of 3 meters.
 Gas detector control panels are available with relay options for 8, 16, or 24
detector units.
 These units are constructed from plastic.
 The alarm activation threshold can be set between 6% and 20% to meet the
client's requirements, but the supplier suggesting it be fixed at 20%.
2 Type of Gas detector proposed
 If necessary, the controller can interface with the fire alarm control panel
using a relay.
 A solenoid will be included at the main gas valve to automatically shut off the
gas in case of a gas leak detection.
 Please note that the gas valve's solenoid is not yet installed, and its inclusion
will halt gas flow upon alarm activation. The supplier will provide a quote for
this addition in their proposal.
 The maximum temperature resistance of the product has not been
confirmed by the supplier at this time.

 The supplier assured that their system is generally free from false alarms.
3 False alarm However, they mentioned that a direct hit of water on the sensor could
potentially trigger a false alarm and, in some cases, damage the unit.
4 Pressure test  A gas line integrity test is necessary to confirm that the gas line can maintain

a safe gas flow.

 The test will take a minimum of 6 hours to complete and will involve the
following steps:
- Flushing the existing gas line and removing any LPG from it.
- Filling the pipeline with nitrogen gas at 6 bar pressure, whereas the
normal pressure for LPG gas is 1 bar.
- Maintaining the nitrogen gas in the pipeline for at least 6 hours.
- If the pressure drops, it indicates a gas pipeline leak.
- The supplier's technicians will use a gas detector to identify the source of
the gas leak.
- If any leakage is found in the valves, the valves will need to be replaced. If
the leak is in the main pipeline, the entire pipeline will be replaced to
ensure safety.
 Please note that the supplier will not install gas detectors if they identify any
gas leakage in the main pipeline.
 The pressure test will take at least 6 hours to complete, and no cooking
activities using LPG can be carried out during this period to ensure safety.
 Each unit must be positioned at least 15 cm above the floor.
 The supplier's proposal includes all the necessary cabling and wiring for the
installation.
 Al Karam is responsible for providing the power source required for both the
installation and operation of the unit.
5 Installation  Upon confirmation of the order, the supplier will commence the installation
process within 2 days. The entire installation process is expected to take 5
days, which is approximately 40 hours.
 It's important to note that the first 6 hours of the installation process will be
dedicated to the pressure test, during which LPG cannot be used through the
existing pipeline.
6 Warranty  A 1-year warranty is offered for the unit, and it exclusively covers

manufacturer defects. Please be aware that this warranty does not extend to
damages caused by physical activities, exposure to water, or oil penetration.
 The supplier will perform unit calibration every 3 months.
 The calibration for the first year is included in the warranty, but from the
7 Calibration second year onwards, it will incur a service charge.
 Calibration will be conducted using standard LPG gas, specifically butane
gas.
 The detectors are sensitive to water and oil and require protection from
water exposure. This can be achieved by enclosing them in a metallic box or
similar protective housing.
8 Cleaning and water  While the gas detectors have basic waterproof capabilities, it's important to
note that a direct hit of water could potentially damage the unit.
 The option of providing a metallic box for protection can also be included in
the supplier's quotation.
9 Range of sensation  Approximately 3 meteors of radius
 Explosion-proof units are a type of gas detector available through the
supplier. These units are designed with a high level of heat resistance,
10 Explosion proof units
although the specific temperature limits have not been confirmed by the
supplier.
 Regarding the cost of the units, the supplier's representative provided a
rough estimate, and the actual quotation may vary. Here is the approximate
cost breakdown:
 Normal units of gas detectors: Each unit costs approximately 120 KWD, and a

total of 18 units are required.
 The main control panel: It is priced at around 450 KWD for a unit with 8
channels.
 Explosion-proof units: Each of these units costs approximately 250 KWD.
12 Other  The supplier shall submit their quotation as soon as possible.

FM/HO/QFS/024 MEETING REPORT

 Currently choose 18 detectors plan to be installed in the kitchen as per

supplier suggestion.
 In summary, the supplier offers various gas detectors, including explosion-
proof units, for installation in a kitchen. The detectors have specific
requirements and vulnerabilities, such as sensitivity to water and oil. A
pressure test is needed for the gas lines, and the installation process will take
around 5 days, with a 1-year warranty covering manufacturer defects. Unit
13 Summary
calibration will occur every 3 months, with costs incurred after the first year.
The cost estimates for the units vary, with standard detectors priced at
approximately 120 KWD each, control panels at 450 KWD, and explosion-
proof units at 250 KWD each. The supplier will provide a quotation soon, and
the plan is to install 18 detectors based on their recommendation.
