Project Summary

Objectives
We want to achieve bigger awareness of youngsters about the importance of sustainable behaviour and use this
for development of ecotourism. Basically, this project is aimed to find a new, innovative way to to promote
sustainable behaviour and ecotourism.
Overall, we want to address the issues of negative cumulative impact of human behaviour that environment is
facing, and promote sustainable practices among youngsters to minimize the negative effect on environment by
their own actions. In order to do so, we will raise awareness about various aspects of sustainability.
We also plan to use the concepts of sustainability to develop a new ecotourism products by participants. They will
be equipped with basic knowledge about planning and implementation of such activities. Thus we are addressing
the need to promote ecotourism as more sustainable approach to tourism in its wide varieties.

We want to achieve the aim of the project - to promote ecotourism by various means of sustainability, thus
promoting sustainable lifestyle among youngsters.

Objectives:
- To promote sustainability as a set of ideas and approaches among youngsters,
- To raise awareness about ecotourism as an alternative to mass tourism,
- To equip participants with basic knowledge and skills to elaborate new ecotourism products,
- To create an innovative ecotourism product in local community,
- To promote Erasmus+ programme and Youthpass certificate.

From the perspective of youth work practice, this project will promote use of various nonformal education
methods in the youthwork done by the partner organizations to contribute to the promotion of sustainable
behaviours among youngsters. Participants and stakeholders will see the positive impact of youthwork and,
therefore, will be to encouraged to improve their performance in this regard. Additionally, we expect that
organizations will get more recognition from the local/regional public bodies and increase the cooperation with
other NGO’s and other stakeholders in the region, especially about the youth projects.

Activities
The venue of project will be in Liepaja, Latvia. Dates of project will be August 21-28, 2022. Involved countries will
be Latvia, Romania, Lithuania,Tunisia, Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands, Greece, Bulgaria and Estonia, and there
will be 40 young people and 10 group leaders, totally 50 participants in the activity.
Latvian partners will be the applicant, coordinator and host organization.
We are planning to implement different activities – non-formal education sessions, outdoor activities, discussions,
study visits. During the period of the youth exchange we are planning to organize non-formal learning activities
through non formal methods simulation, role plays, workshops, energizers/teambuilding activities,
outdoor-community research, debate, discussion, intercultural night, etc. Methods that will be used: Name games,
Team building activities, Presentation, Brainstorming, Theatre, Creative workshops, Role plays, Debate,
Simulation, Indoor and outdoor activities, Energizers and other methods of non-formal education. Participants will
reflect on their learning outcomes by different psychological and emotional way of describing.

Impact
Results of the project will be a new ecotourism product elaborated by participants based on the local resources
and a and online promotional material in a form of leaflet about the new ecotourism product.
Expected impacts include various learning outcomes of participants, as we expect that participants will improve
their habits towards mores sustainable practices, their knowledge about the topic and they will become more
motivated to work towards sustainable behaviour. Participants will acquire and improve competences and
knowledge: for example, knowledge about concept of sustainability, concept of ecotourism, sustainable transport,
sustainable housing, waste recycling, organic farming what are important aspects both for sustainability and
ecotourism, skills to develop new ecotourism products, experience in exchanging views and share experiences,
presentation skills, personal, social and learning to learn competences, multilingual competences, citizenship
competences etc.
The most important impact of the project will be on target groups, such as young people, their communities and
families, as it will increase their knowledge and skills in field of topic; young people will improve their capability for
successful self-realization, they will be more proactive and they will promote sustainable behaviour.
