Instructions:

• Create a list of statements to use and avoid in the area of employment you are interested in
joining.
• List at least five statements that you would use on the job, and at least five statements that
you would avoid on the job.
• Examples should be more job-specific than the list on page 79, although this list could be
used as a guideline (do not copy it).
• List the area(s) of employment that you are interested in joining.

Statements to Use in the Workplace:

1. Hi Mr./Ms.__, I can assist you in the doctor’s office.


2. Kindly give me a minute to look it up for you.
3. Is there anything else I can help you with today other than the appointment?
4. Hi Mr./Ms.__, How have you been? Please give me a minute to check your bill.
5. Hi Mr./Ms.__, how are you today? I am Rhein, I am a Medical Office Administrator, I
will be recording your vital signs as per the doctor’s order.

Statements not to Use in the Workplace?

1. What’s up with you today?


2. There is nothing else I can do for you.
3. Here is how you can get to Room 5.
4. That is the doctor’s office.
5. Here is your bill.
