SESSION TITLE: Walking Safely Near Traffic
SESSION OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

a.) Define “pedestrian lanes”.


b.) Recognize and demonstrate safe practices near traffic.
c.) Give importance on walking safely near traffic.

KEY CONCEPTS: A pedestrian lane is a designated space on the roadway for exclusive use of
pedestrians.

INTRODUCTION AND 5 MINS. Activity: “Picture Clues”
WARM-UP Instruction: The teacher will show a picture of
pedestrian lanes to the learners.

CONCEPT 20 MINS. Activity: “Follow Me”


EXPLORATION Instruction: Follow what the teacher will do.

Safe Behavior When Walking Near Traffic


1. Walk, don’t run.
2. Don’t play around with friends or push.
3. Stay close to a parent, adult, or older sibling.
4. Stay away from cars and busy roads.
5. Be aware of traffic. Don’t be distracted.
6. Use a sidewalk.
7. Walk on the left.
8. Walk safely.
9. Beware of driveways. Stop, look for moving
vehicles before crossing.
10. Dress to be seen. (Wear bright-colored,
reflective material and carry a flashlight)
