Training Is the Answer an Article by Rob Rosner
Article Summary Rob Rosner s 1999 article titled Training is the answer ... but what was
the question? 20 questions to make sure your training really works. starts with a
cautionary tale about training seminars gone bad. The author conveys an incident at a
health care training seminar where the trainer s admission of knowing nothing about
health care, derailed the training program before it even started. After the conclusion of
the seminar, the trainer presented his participants with a congratulatory decorative cactus
for completing the seminar. When one trainee was asked what he got out of the training;
he commented I got a cactus (Rosner, 1999). Mr. Rosner s article is written for training
experts and human resource (HR) professionals in mind as a guidance that can be used
for designing employee training programs. HR professionals can answer these questions
to develop useful guidelines for developing an effective training program or whether
training is actually needed in the first place. In the article, Rosner states that avoiding
wasting time, production, and precious resources on ineffectual training programs is the
ultimate goal for successful training managers. HR representatives need to figure out the
solutions to the questions posed in Mr. Rosner s article. Questions like, what are the
reasons for conducting training, is training necessary, what solutions have been used in
the past, and what is the expected outcome of training are integral to planning an
Development of Agricultural Tools and Machines
Development of Agricultural Tools and Machines
The development of machines began in the 1890 s when the first steam tractor and
combine were made in California (Meij 3). There was a need to make more efficient
use of the labor; therefore, machines were developed ( Agripedia 2). By 1914, the
combine started to spread outside of California to the rest of the United States (Meij
4). Then in 1928 it spread to Great Britain and then to the Netherlands after World War
II (Meij 4). The development of these machines was affected by long run price variation
(Meij 4). When prices of grains were high, there were demands for ploughs, seed drills,
cultivators, reapers, winnowing machines and others (Meij 5). After 1912, there was a

The land owners saved money by not having to pay as many labor workers (Meij 43).
After all the tools and machines were created, people realized that the intention of
farming was to produce food at the lowest price to the customer and therefore at the
highest level of productivity per acre, per man, and per unit of equipment (Meij 52).
To meet this high productivity level on smaller farms the equipment had to be made
smaller (Meij 52). Western Germany developed a great range of small tractors for this
purpose (Meij 53). In addition, small farms depended on second hand machinery as a
source of equipment (Meij 54). There were also machines that could be joint owned or
hired from contractors (Meij 56). These modifications had to be created for small farms
in Europe. These time consuming modifications caused difficulties with rapid
mechanization among Europe s small farms.

Circumstances for Mechanization in the United States

As a result of mechanization, the American farmer became on of the world s most
productive agriculturists (Meij 65). In addition, mechanization provided to the pleasure
and welfare of farm families and to activiness of the labor supply (Meij 65).
Mechanization in the United States began during World War I, when there was a shortage
of food (Meij 73). This called forth tractors, motor trucks, combines, corn pickers, hay
loaders, and tillage
Questions On The Environment And The Healthcare Industry
Analyze the Environment
Five Forces (Top three):
1. Threat of New Entrants: Threat of entry is low in healthcare industry for several
reasons; most significantly government regulations. Federal and state governments have
strict regulations in place that each company in the industry must follow in order to
operate. High capital requirements may also deter small firms from entering into the
market. New firms will require enough resources to compete against the large existing
firms to be able to negotiate contracts with service providers.
2. Bargaining Power of Suppliers: Private practice physicians, healthcare professionals
and hospitals are the key suppliers of healthcare industry. The power of suppliers is high

Health insurance is steadily changing as a result of a federal statute called the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). This is requiring approximately 30 million
new Americans to obtain health insurance in 2014. More individual health care plans are
being bought instead of the usual employer group plans. The well known Blue Cross
Blue Shield plan had 59% of the healthcare market before ACA, while it currently is
claiming only 24% (Wayne). The American Student Dental Association is expecting
approximately 3 million children to obtain dental benefits by 2018 (ASDA).
Reflection Paper On Slime
On a summer afternoon, as I make my way up to Ling s house, I was full of excitement
because I knew, as I get there, my boredom will be extinguished! If you read this, just
know that you are in for a long ride of reading what I did at Ling s house! Ling and I
were making satisfying videos of slime, we were making fascinating slime. Plus, we
were talking about Minecraft and school too! Ling got her iPad and all of her crunchy
slime plus she went to the video app so we could make satisfying slime videos. Ling
and I wanted to make a satisfying slime video with the crunchy purple slime first, so
we did. At first, when we recorded the crunchy purple slime, it was not loud enough to
be in a satisfying slime ASMR Youtube video, so we tried to poke the slime harder
while we recorded the slime. (ASMR is Autonomous sensory meridian response,
which means a tingling sensation on the skin.) Additionally, we poked the slime so
the slime would look satisfying to watch. If you want to know how to poke slime to
make it look satisfying for your satisfying video, you would need to poke it with 2, 3,
or 4 fingers like how Ling and I did the poking. Ling and I wanted to do something fun
but it was hard to visualize of something fun to do, it was making slime! The hardest
thing to think about was what kind of slime Ling and I wanted to make. We were
thinking about all of the types of slimes Ling doesn t have. Finally! Ling thought of a
slime to make, crunchy clear slime! As people can
