Part I. Imagine you were freed from being a prisoner after quite a number of years.

1. How was literature used as a tool for awareness and protest? Cite some
examples. (3 points)
- Many parts of literature are used as a tool for spreading awareness and
protesting different types of social issues. An example of this is making a poem
about how corrupt the government is today to spread awareness for people who
turn a blind eye and are still believing the government is helping them, but in
reality, the government is only helping themselves. Writing a non-fiction book
about the victims, their experiences during the martial law period, and why the
martial law happened. There are many ways to use literature. To spread
awareness and information on issues before and the present problems the
country’s facing.

2. How was literature used to highlight the characteristics and experiences of the
different people involved with/affected by the Marcos regime? Cite some
examples. (3 points)

- Literature was used to express and show the experiences of the different
people involved during the Marcos regime. There are many people who are
brave enough to speak up about their experiences with people who are willing
to be their voice. Some examples of literature made during the time are “Days
of Disquiet and Nights of Rage” by Jose F. Lacaba, which is one of the best
places to start reading about martial law due to it, including the reason why it
started and where the person who did this had the courage, and the famous
Dekada ’70 by Chito S. Roño, which shows the life of the people during the
dictatorship of Ferdinard Marcos.

want to try writing as well. To do that, you need to draft your work first. Now, kindly fill-
