Initially AirAsia was owned by the Malaysian Government's DRB-HICOM but this airline had a

carried out international flights to Thailand. Since then, Thai AirAsia was opened and various
additional routes were added, such as to Singapore and Indonesia. Flights to Macau started in
June 2004 while flights to Manila and Xiamen started in April 2005. Other routes that will be
opened are to Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines and Laos.
