IX. Program Objectives


The Bachelor of Science in Statistics (BSS) Program aims to produce statisticians with strong knowledge and skills in data science.
Specifically, the program seeks to:

1. Produce graduates who can postulate real-life problems into statistical problems;
2. Produce graduate who can collect data, aggregate data, analyze data using computing technologies, interpret results, and communicate results to different
stakeholders towards the solution of real-life problems based on statistically sound methods/techniques.
3. Equip students with quantitative skills and methods that they can employ and build on in flexible ways; and
4. Prepare students for graduate work in statistics and/or allied fields.

X. Course Description
This is a 54-hour, three-unit course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and intercultural awareness through multimodal tasks
that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural audience in a local or global context. It equips students with tools for critical
evaluation of a variety of texts and focuses on the power of language and the impact of images to emphasize the importance of conveying messages responsibly. The knowledge,
skills, and insights that students gain from this course may be used in their other academic endeavors, their chosen disciplines, and their future careers as they compose and
produce relevant oral, written, audio-visual and/or web-based output for various purposes.

XVII. Classroom Policies


1. For purpose of keeping order and promoting decorum in the class, an instructor is empowered to exclude the student for untoward conduct from the class and immediately thereafter to
make a report of such action to the campus director. (Section 3 3.1.2 student handbook)
2. No student shall be allowed to use cellphones during classes and examinations, except for instruction purposes. (Section 3 3.1.5 Student Handbook)
3. Wearing of earrings, nose rings and tongue rings are prohibited for male students in the campus. (Section 3 3.1.7 student Handbook)
4. Male students should observe the prescribed standard haircut to all year levels which will not cover the ears and will not below the collar line. (Section 3 3.1.6 Student Handbook)
5. Dishonesty such as cheating during examinations, plagiarism in connection with any academic work [are not accepted]. (Section 3 3.1.5 Student Handbook)

6. Proper dress code and decorum are expected among all students. Any act of disrespect and rudeness shall not be tolerated throughout the duration of the class.
7. Be mindful of your surroundings. Avoid any form of destructions such as unnecessary background noise, chitchat, etc. that may cause inconvenience to the instructor and other
students.
8. Kindly key in your questions and concerns in the chat box. This will be answered in the forum portion after the lecture.
9. To minimize background noise, students are encouraged to turn on their microphone only when necessary.
10. Try to speak clearly and audibly during the forum portion. Ensure that no objects or coverings are blocking your microphones.
