Arithmetic sequence

When the numbers that make up a sequence are related in such way a way that a term is equal to
the sum of the preceding term and the common difference

Where = an= a1 + (n- 1) d

Example:

What is the 50th term of the sequence -7,-4,-1,2?

Arithmetic means
Are the numbers between two terms in a sequence

Where = an = a1 + (n – 1 ) d

Example :
Find the common difference (d) of 2 & 7
Arithmetic series

The sum of (Sn) of the terms n of an arithmetic series is

Geometric Sequence

Determining the common ration wherein n is greater than one

a 1 – is the first term
r – is the common ratio
n- is the number of terms

Formula =

Example :

Find the common ratio of the numbers 5,15,45,135

Geometric Mean

Are the terms between the two terms in a geometric sequence

Formula :

Find the 3 geometric means between 1 & 108
