SCENARIO OF TELEVISION SHOW TITLED:

A - MAZE - ING / HIDDEN QUEST / THE DARK ROOM / ROOMS / FIND IT

THE BLACK ROOM
Television show in a closed studio / set, preferably with audience (spectators)

Dark scenery (set) with smokes coming out and the host appears.
Behind him/her we can 5 doors of different colors, blue, red, green, and yellow, the middle
door is black colored. Right and left we can see 2 great ‘boards’, hidden under sheets
preferably white (at least for the first episode). Each room inside, will be an ordinary house
room (bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom and the middle room could be a storage
room, laboratory, library or anything else).
In each room each color will dominate mostly in intense form (As well as the lighting in the
same color) and will be filled with objects, small and large size, very common in our life
(Batteries, glasses, cutlery, mobile phones, chargers, lighters, jewelry, clothes, fruit, and
anything else we could use in our everyday life) but in the same color as the room. (It is
suggested that the room has a wall paper in the same color but also with many drawings that
could be confusing)
The middle black room will be with very dark color and same wall paper, and without any
light inside, and will be the biggest room of all and filled with many more objects than the
other rooms. (Again from our everyday life)
It is suggested that the rooms have closets, cupboards, selves, nightstands, drawers and
everything else we can find in a common house again filled with common objects.
Moreover, there should be in all the rooms, objects that do not fit in an ordinary house like:
swords, spear guns, fins, beach umbrellas, skis, snowboards, daggers, different kinds of birds
and animals (fake), plants etc.
All the above objects, common or not, should be in many forms, for example a bird could be a
fake canary in cage or a canary in a painting or a drawing. A balloon could be a real balloon
or a drawn balloon, or a sticker on the wall paper. (Stickers should match the wall paper color
in each room and should be easy to pull them out)
The objects that can be used are infinite but it would be preferable to use ambiguous objects,
objects that have many uses and come in many colors, sizes, and shapes.

The boards (digital) that appear to the side of the host should be 1 on each side and will be
each one a different puzzle or riddle or mind game.

For the maximum ease of the production company or the TV station that will air the specific
show, it is suggested that these boards would be ‘touch screen’ monitors, so that the riddle
could be easily uploaded, the solution could be easily displayed and also makes the game
play, easier for the players and for the audience to watch

GAME EXPLANATION:

The game will be played with two players at a time.

Every player will be given, at is his turn, a list with about 15 objects (Or we could look for
objects that begin from a certain letter. Testing the players memory capability here) which
they must identify and find in each room in a given period of time, and place them in a bag or
box or something else. (We aim at the observance skills of the players and their imagination,
and that is why we mentioned earlier ambiguous objects with different colors, shapes and
sizes. They could get us a balloon that is real or a balloon in a photo and so on)

Also the list could not be given to the players but to be read to them, and they must try to
remember the objects. After each room a riddle takes turn.

1
It is suggested that each player to enter in 2 of the 4 rooms or maybe both of them in a
different room (for time saving) but the riddles should be solved one at a time. The riddles
should be solved in the studio in front of the audience.

The player with the most points, before is announced winner, he/she must enter the dark room
as well. A room filled with objects in which there is no light. The player enters the room
holding a flashlight that will have a strong but narrow beam of light and must find and bring
out about 20 objects in 2 or 3 minute period of time. During the game we could have ‘useful
objects’. These will be objects that will be marked (highlighted) in the lists (so that the
player will look harder for these) and will help the players for tracking and getting other
objects in their second try, for example a screwdriver could be used to unscrew a bolt, or a
battery could be found in the first try so that the flashlight could work in the dark room. (If
they are not found, points could be deducted from the player to get them).

The players could start by entering in a room each, and finding objects. The second round
could be again entrance in a room for finding objects or a riddle solving. It would be useful
that the game should be separated in 4 rounds (room, riddle, room, riddle or in another turn)
so that it is easier to keep a score.

The winner of the 2 players must enter the dark room for the final round. He/she will have
some time to bring the requested objects by searching in the dark room with the help of the
flashlight. In the dark room there should be a surprise factor. Maybe some very bright light
flashes at random for a few seconds so the player could loose clear vision. Maybe a disco ball
lights and there is very loud music. Something that disorients the players from their purpose.
Also in the other rooms we should have some kind of sound background that again disorients
the players but in a smaller degree. Footsteps getting closer, nature sounds, door knocking
etc.

It’s a game that absorbs the audience in it, they will be looking for objects, whether in the
studio or at home, they will try to solve the puzzles, they will live the agony of time running
out, and of course the surprises in the dark room.
