BREATHING

Breathing is primarily supported by the respiratory system, which is also supported by other systems
such as the nervous, circulatory, skeletal, and muscular. How do the respiratory system's interconnected
tissues and organs work together to help us breathe and survive? How could it be observed that there is
a gas exchange between humans and plants?

The process of breathing begins in the mouth or nose. This is where the raw material from the
environment known as oxygen, which we obtain from plants, comes in. It then moves down, passing
through the pharynx, larynx, and trachea where it branches into two bronchial tubes, allowing oxygen to
enter the lungs and perform gas exchange or external respiration, in which oxygen is exchanged for
carbon dioxide waste in the alveoli and is later released or exhaled by the person. And it is this gas that
is required or useful for plants to undergo photosynthesis.

It is also in the lungs that oxygen from the air is removed and passed through the bloodstream. Then,
from the lungs, the bloodstream delivers/distributes oxygen absorbed to all parts or organs of the body,
performing the process known as Internal Respiration.

MUSCULAR AND SKELETAL SYSTEM:

The diaphragm (muscle) is in charge of helping the lungs pull in and expel air, and the ribs (bones) are in
charge of protecting the heart and lungs. Both aid in the safe and smooth passage of air into and out of
the lungs.
