Final Project Research Proposal Guideline

You will write a research proposal on a topic of your interest. The proposal will consist of the following
components. Please see the following guidelines for each section. Be sure to address comments from the
instructor and classmates.

I. Introduction
a. This section starts with general background information (e.g., definition or a discussion of the
significance of the topic) about the topic you’re interested in.
b. Stating specific research objective and research questions.
II. Review of literature
a. Review previous studies to provide context of existing knowledge and synthesize relevant
findings in the area.
b. Based on the studies that you review, indicate research gaps that you plan to address in your
proposal.
III. Methodology
a. Provide a full description of your research design and specific methods.
b. Provide justification of your methods (e.g., Why did you choose a particular test? What did you
do to ensure validity and reliability?).
c. Describe the data collection procedure. You can also use a diagram to summarize the procedure.
d. How do you plan to analyze data?
IV. Significance and limitations (Required for this course but not necessary for a formal research
proposal)
a. Conclude your proposal by stating the significance of the study
b. Discuss potential limitations that may threaten the validity and reliability of the study.
V. Reference list

Format:
1. Please submit (a) the PDF file of your Turnitin Originality Report and (b) the word file of your proposal.

2. 15-20 pages, double-spaced, including a reference list and appendix (if any)

3. 12-point font size, Times New Roman

4. Please follow the APA citation format or a citation format that your discipline requires.
