1. Purpose

1.1 The intent of this method statement is to describe core drillings for additional
Openings for Concrete, This work method and procedure establish the Manner or process
in which core drillings for additional openings. Core drilling will be located as the new
requirements and changes in the projects.

2. Responsibilities

2.1 Overall responsibility rests on the Project Director, but the main and subcontractor’s Mechanical manager, Site
Mechanical Engineer and QA/QC Engineer should be responsible for ensuring that the requirements in Safety,
Quality, the Product and Project Specifications, the specified codes and standards are met and observed during
the execution.

3. Work methodology
Preparation of Work
3.1 The areas to be core drilled will be checked according to approved slab rebar shop drawings. In case the holes
have rebar in the exact area then minimal adjustment will be done to reduce the extent of rebar affected but shall
be discussed with the construction engineer prior to proceeding.

3.2 The area to be core drilled will be marked on the slab as per required diameter.

3.3 Working area and slab below will be barricaded and sufficient safety signage will be posted to keep away other
workers not involve in the core drilling work.

3.4 Whenever temporary support is required the construction engineer shall be the one to decide with the support of
the Safety Engineer.

4. Work Procedure

4.1 Locations of coring will be adjusted such that coring will not damage any existing slab reinforcement and
minimum concrete cover to existing reinforcing steel is maintained. In case the holes have rebar in the exact area
then relocating the holes shall be discussed further prior to proceeding..
4.2 Coring shall be done in 3 areas for each room (WC, Bidet and Shower Drain) and verify how many rebar will be
cut and report to construction Engineer to study the status of the coring location Hangers & Supports to be as per
the approved shop drawing details.
4.3 Any damages to existing reinforcing steel will be reported immediately to the Construction Engineer and provide
temporary shoring as needed promptly. In cases where the reinforcing steel cannot be avoided to be cut then all
necessary safety procedure shall be done.
4.4 No coring in beams I columns and no live load shall be allowed to the slab. No distance is required for live load
because this is not a11owed elsewhere. Barrication with signage shall be within a minimum of 2 meter radius
from the on-going coring works
4.5 Manufacturer's co1ing systems manual will be followed as attached
4.6 QC will be notified of any cut rebar while the core process is being conducted.

5. Quality

 QCE (Quality Control Engineer) along with Construction Superintendent and Site Engineer will monitor
that all components are installed as per Contract Specification and approved submittals and Manufacturer’s
recommendations.

6. Health, Safety and Environment Measures


6.1 Work all commence as per safety regulations laid down in the contract specification and project health, safety &
environment plan.
6.2 Engineers and supervisors are responsible for their worker executing the work.
6.3 Engineers will ensure the safe conditions for work and safe work procedures will be implemented.
6.4 Safety team will supervise the work to overcome the potential hazards involve in it and will advise for safe
working procedures.
6.5 All activities will be executed through PTW system.
6.6 Ensures a high level of supervision during the activities.
6.7 Regular periodic inspections (after 7 days) for the equipment.
6.8 Operator will be experienced and certified.
6.9 Trainings will be given to the workers for execution.
6.10 All personal protective equipment shall be used as appropriate according to the nature of the job.
6.12 All workers will follow the corrective measures originated from the risk assessment and COSHH assessment.
6.13 RAMS, MSDS and COSHH assessment will be present on site for consultation.
6.14 Housekeeping shall be of good standard and all cut pieces and debris shall be removed.
6.9 Ensure that proper equipment’s are available.
