1. Purpose

This Fan Coil Unit installation method of statement is prepared in order to outline the activities
and the methods used for the installation of Fan Coil Unit.
2. Responsibilities
2.1 Overall responsibility rests on the Project Director, but the main and subcontractor’s
Mechanical manager, Site Mechanical Engineer and QA/QC Engineer should be responsible
for ensuring that the requirements in Safety, Quality, the Product and Project Specifications,
the specified codes and standards are met and observed during the execution.
2.2 Samsung and CCE Joint Venture to make construction inspection request (CIR) prior to
testing or proceeding to next level activities. PMC (Project Management Consultant)
representative to endorse CIR before contractor or subcontractor performs the succeeding
activity.
3. Scope of Works
This Method Statement covers the onsite installation of Fan coil units, fittings and the
requirements of Inspections to be carried out.
This applies to areas where structural works are completed and in all respects ready for Fan
Coil Unit installation.

6.2.1 All Equipment installation works shall be installed as per latest PMC approved
shop drawings.
6.2.2 Delivery of the equipment to worksite can be done by material handling equipment
or carried by workers according to safety measures.
6.2.3 Equipment (FCU) shall be protected against the ingress of foreign materials or dirt
while being positioned to its exact location.
6.2.4 Check and verify the location of required Duct Cut-outs to be installed for FCU
Installation penetration through floors and walls.
6.2.5 Install Equipment (FCU) above accessible ceilings to allow sufficient space for
ceiling panel removal.
6.2.6 Install Equipment (FCU) and confirm that it is in the right position ( right or left
hand )
6.2.7 Connect supply and return Ducting & piping to equipment’s with coil connections
and Duct Connections and accessories as shown in the approved shop drawings.
6.2.8 Isolation valves, Strainer, calibrated balancing valves, Automatic Air Vents, drain
valves and drain cocks will be installed at locations indicated in the approved shop
drawings.
6.2.9 Control valves will be installed in accessible locations close to connected
equipment. Ports for pressure and temperature gauges will be installed as indicated
in the approved shop drawings.
6.2.10 Flexible connectors will be flanged or threaded connections to match equipment
connected and will be capable of 20 mm miss-alignment
6.2.11 Make sure that Condensate will drain off freely.
6.2.12 The distance between the air intake side floors or wall should be minimum 450 –
500 mm
6.2.13 For small FCU use 20 kgf rubber stud and use 50 kgf spring isolator for big one in
basements and mechanical rooms.
6.2.14 Connect electrical and BMS connections as per manufacturer recommendation.
6.2.15 Proceed CHW system flushing before FCU connection

QCE (Quality Control Engineer) along with Construction Superintendent and Site
Engineer will monitor that all components are installed as per Contract Specification and
approved submittals and Manufacturer’s recommendations.
Work will be inspected as per attached ITP
Inspection to be done after attached check list compliance.

11.1 Work all commence as per safety regulations laid down in the contract
specification and project health, safety & environment plan.
11.2 Proper safety harness to be used and secured, if required.
11.3 All personal protective equipment shall be used as appropriate according to the nature
of the job.
11.4 Housekeeping shall be of good standard and all cut pieces and debris shall be removed.
11.5 Ensure that proper scaffolding / ladders are available.
