IDENTITY

The film we watched was called "Identity," and it takes place in two different locations. The first occurs in
reality, when Malcolm is delivered to the court who will decide his penalty for the killings of six people.
The second is at the Nevada motel, which is, after all, all in his thoughts. It was totally mind-blowing
when I realized what was going on. It depicts approximately ten people who were forced to stay in a
Nevada motel due to the bad weather. Because of the heavy rain, the road was flooded, and they
needed to find shelter for a time. There was an ex-cop who is now a driver for an actress, an officer, a
prostitute, newlyweds, and the York family. Larry Washington owned the motel. After a while, the killings
began, and they suspected the officer-brought convicted murderer. They had no idea that the officer
who accompanied the murderer was also a criminal who had disguised himself as a cop. They also
noticed that there was a sequential room key for each killings, as if it was a pattern, the order. However,
to my surprise, it turns out that only Rivers made everything up in his head. It was discovered that the
ten people only exist in Malcolm's head. They are all his personalities because he has dissociative
identity disorder.

His Dissociative Identity Disorder was most likely caused by his challenging childhood circumstances. His
mother was convicted of both drug use and prostitution, while his father was mentioned to have an
anger issue. Malcolm was frequently left alone for lengthy periods of time as his mother pursued her
drug addiction or prostitution. These traumas and neglect can create so much emotional turmoil in the
developing child that the brain begins to come up with strategies to cope. And it was at that point that
Malcolm developed the disorder.

Malcolm was being defended by his defense lawyer at the time for being unconscious of the killings he
committed. Because of Rivers' mental condition, his execution was illegal. And, all things happened in
the motel was only part of his medical treatment. Paris, the prostitute, was the only one who survived
the situation at hand in the motel. This means that all of Rivers' other characters are no longer alive.
They had no idea Timmy, the York family's son was the personality behind all of the killings, and was still
alive all along. Timmy murdered Paris in Rivers' thoughts, where in reality, it shows Rivers attempting to
murder his defense lawyer.

It was an eye-opener for all of us. Not everyone is aware of Dissociative Identity Disorder. It could
provide us with guidance on how to cope with persons who have this illness. We also knew, or at least
had the idea what was going on in their thoughts and how they portrayed each identity that they
created. Rivers portrays any personality that enters his thoughts. Even the handwriting of a certain
personality differed from the others. You could absolutely believe that different persons were writing to
Rivers' journal. That's why, at first, the law find it all absurd.

The film was also excellent; the evidence given makes you wonder who the true murderer is. When
individuals were being killed, you may change your suspect. There's even an accident, but the room key
is still next the body of the one who died. It keeps you intrigued and waiting until the true culprit is
revealed, even if it was unexpected that the small boy was the murderer after all. I almost felt it was a
supernatural that was messing with them.

As a result, I conclude that Identity was a fantastic film in its whole. It teaches us a lot about a particular
disorder. In many scenes, it also provides us a good scare. It makes you curious about the unidentified
murderer which keeping you interested in watching.
