Playing The Minion

Devoted, resourceful, overworked, and underappreciated. The

Minion never fit in. A creature taunted, tormented, and pitied
for circumstances beyond their control. But then Master came
along and gave you a purpose, and a dream. You’ll do the
work nobody else wants to do, and little by little, they’ll grow
to appreciate you. And maybe one day they’ll even make eye
contact with you.

One stat choice for the Minion lets you steer them towards
someone turned strange and desensitized by their time
working for Master (Cold 1 Dark 2). The other instead paints
the picture of someone so used to stress they have a hard time
functioning without it (Volatile 2 Dark 1).

While the Minion is not immune to the personal leverage

of Strings, Work is Work gives others another avenue of
manipulating you by taking advantage of your reputation and
feelings of self-worth, i.e. Conditions. While Conditions are
normally bad, the Minion makes gaining and losing Conditions
standard to how they interact with others. Dark Fantasy and
Hard Life play into the risk/reward aspect of Conditions.

Much of the Minion revolves around your Master. Decide

how supernatural you want them to be: do you want to serve
a vampire lord, or perhaps be the assistant to an eccentric
scientist, or maybe you just work for a crappy, but normal
human boss. Regardless, make sure to discuss their nature with
the MC, as your Master should act as a consistent source of
jobs and Conditions.

Master is so smart and powerful. It is your honor just to work for them. To
be so close to them. Even someone as poor and ugly as you can make it if
you just work hard enough.

Master was never this miserable,
but you can’t go back. You’re
pathetic enough as it is. Escape
your Darkest Self when you save
Master from a horrible fate, or
are hired by a new Master.

Your eccentric Master employs
you to perform unsafe and
unsavory jobs, and promised
to one day reward you for
your service. Describe Master’s
occupation or nature. When you
lack any Conditions, or lose your
employment to Master, enter
your Darkest Self.
 Work is Work
When someone takes advantage
of one of your Conditions, they
can give you a job to do. If you
complete it to their satisfaction,
resolve that Condition.
 Favoritism
You can spend a String on Master
to:
 ask them a question and
receive an honest answer,
 have them enter the scene
and promptly rescue you
from danger.
 Skin of My Teeth
When you almost die on a
job, take a String on whoever
employed you.
Sex When you have sex with someone, they copy any Conditions you
have onto themselves. They have the option to not go through
Move with it and reject you at the last minute.
 Employee Benefits
When you rummage through
Master’s collections or contacts
for something to help with a
job, add 1 to any roll using it, but
choose one.
 it’s dangerous &
uncontrollable,
 it will embarrass and
humiliate you,
 it will demand a dark price or
a String.
 Hard Life
When someone rejects or pities
you, they give you a Condition
and you mark experience.
 Dark Fantasy
You fantasize of oneday being like
Master, whatever they are. When
you praise or defend their kind,
roll to Turn Someone On or Shut
Someone Down with Conditions
you have. On a 12 up, you fail the
roll instead.
 When Pigs Fly
When you do something
ingenious or badass, as long as
no one is paying attention to you
or acknowledges it, add 2 to your
roll to Keep Your Cool.
