Pens, Pencil, Books, Marker, White Board, Work sheets, You tube videos, power point presentation.

CONTENT OUTLINE:
● What is energy that can be involved in so many different activities?

● Energy can be defined as the ability to do work.

● If an object or organism does work (exerts a force over a distance to move an object) the object or
organism uses energy. Because of the direct connection between energy and work,
● forms of energy include:
The basic form of energy
 Kinetic
 Potential
 Electrical
 Chemical
 Solar
 Light
 sound

.
All forms of energy can be in either of two states:
● Potential

● Kinetic

● Kinetic energy the energy of motion is called kinetic energy.

● The faster an object moves, the more kinetic energy it has.

● The greater the mass of a moving object, the more kinetic energy it has.

● Potential Energy is stored energy.

● Stored chemically in fuel, the nucleus of atom, and in foods.

● Or stored because of the work done on it:

● Stretching a rubber band.

● Winding a watch.

● Pulling back on a bow’s arrow.

● Lifting a brick high in the air

PRIOR LEARNING:Students should know Check that students:

Know that energy is the ability to do work

Know some forms and sources of energy

LEARNING OUTCOME:

● Students should be able to:

● Identify the different forms of energy

● Identify the two main forms of energy namely: kinetic and potential

● Explain of each form of energy

● Identify different diagrams showing the different energy forms

PROCEDURES/ACTIVITIES
Engage - How can I get students interested in this? Use of an interesting picture and you-
tube video (min)

● A video will be shown.

● Students will write down at least three forms of energy shown in the video.

● Questions will be asked for students to compare and contrast the different types of
energy.

Explore - What tasks/questions can I offer to help students puzzle through this? Use of a
simple investigation. (10 min)

 Students will arrange themselves into groups of four, with the people closest to them,
each group will be given a form of energy picture sort, they will have the heading of
the six forms of energy we are focusing on. And 18 pictures that represent each
picture.
 The students will work together to arrange the picture under the heading. (The teacher
will inform the students that there are several pictures that could go under more than
one heading.)

Explain - How can I help students make sense of their observation? Class presentation and
discussions, Videos, demonstrations
● The teacher will choose a form of energy and select one child to give an example that
their group put under that form. The teacher will also ask that student for one more
form of energy that the example could go under.
● This will be done until all examples and all forms of energy have been discussed.

● Students will be allowed to express what they understand about different forms of
energy and the law of energy conservation of energy. Misconceptions will be
addressed about energy and clarification will be done. Students will be shown
diagrams on energy conservation. and they will be guiding in understanding.
Elaborate - How can my students apply their new knowledge to other situations? Application
of what they learned. ( min)
● The students will complete a form energy assessment sheet, 10pictures will be on the
sheet for them to write one form of energy they think is described in the picture and
write a brief explanation.

Evaluate - How can I help my studentsself evaluate and reflect on the teaching and learning
and how can I evaluate the students learning of concepts and skills. Assessment. (10 min)

The form will be used for evaluation, the sheet will be worth 30 marks. 1 p0int for listing a
form of energy for each picture. 2 points for each explanation.

WEEK 2

Engagement-

At the beginning of class, the class will do a think pair share to discuss the objective.

Explore
Example of real-life example of energy transformation will be given. After which students
will think of some devices and write down how energy transformation takes place.
Explain-
Students will be allowed to express what they understand about the law of energy and energy
conversion. Misconceptions will be addressed about energy transformation and clarification
will be done based on students' responses.

Elaborate
Students will make a list of equipment that uses electricity and write down the form of energy
transfer.

Evaluation

Class work
1. Name five forms of energy.
2. Explain the difference between potential and kinetic energy
3. What is energy conversion and give two examples?
4. Identify the energy conversion in the diagram below and explain what is happening.

March 13,2023 71-3 Mix

The class started well and the teacher started a new topic most students were happy and fully
settled for teaching to take place. The teacher introduces the lesson by doing a running
exercise the students were ask to tell if energy was use up by the teacher. the wrote the
definition of energy on the board while students read and write the definition. The teacher
and students discuss the several forms of energy. The students were ask several questions
based on the lesson, most students answered the questions correctly e.g. which form a energy
the nucleus of an atom split and generate into electric energy. The students were given an
activity and most students perform well by answering the questions correctly this lesson
shows that majority of the students grasp the concept and the objectives of the lesson was
met.

March 14,2023 71-3 Mix

The class began early and most students were fully prepared. the teacher repeated the lesson
for majority of the students who did not fully understand. The teacher brought several charts
pictures of the different forms of energy. The teacher explain and use several examples to
reach out to all the students who did fully understand. The teacher gave students another
activity to assess students’ cognitive ability, most students did well while one student got two
questions incorrect e.g. describe the differences between heat and light energy. This lesson
shows all students did not fully grasp the concept and all the objectives were not met. The
teacher will reinforce the lesson so that all students fully understand.
