Preface

This National Standard of Indonesia (SNI – Standar Nasional Indonesia) for Light Truck
Tire is a revision of SNI 06-0100-2002, Light Truck Tire and SNI 06-0100-2002/Amd.1 :
2010, Light Truck Tire, Amendment 1.
This standard has been revised to complete and adopt current standard, in deal with
dimension, marking and some additional size to adapt with latest reference.
Purpose of this standard drafting is to :
- To improve user safety aspect; and
- To adapt technology development

This standard was prepared by Technical Committee 83-01, Rubber and Plastic Industry
and has been discussed in the technical meeting and pre-consensus meeting on
December 16, 2011 in Jakarta, attended by the representatives of government,
manufacturers, customers, experts, association and other related institute.

This SNI has passed national consensus by polling on April 24 to June 24, 2012 and
extended to July 24, 2012 until being approved as a Final Draft of SNI (RASNI) to be
issued as a SNI.

Minimum amount of the tire required for test of each size are 2 or 3 pieces (third tire only
for tire without speed symbol with rim diameter < 15 inch and ply rating ≤ 8 PR or for tire
with speed symbol and load index as determined in Table 4.1 and 4.2) as follows:
a. The first tire for dimension test, TWI, and breaking energy in sequence.
b. The second tire for endurance test.
c. The third tire for high-speed performance test

5.2 Method of sampling

The test sample will be taken taken randomly.

6. Test method
6.1 Dimension test
6.1.1 Preparation
Mount the tire on the test rim, which is determined in the table of size, dimension, rim,
load and inflation pressure (attachment D), then inflate with the air pressure on single
maximum load as specified in load/inflation pressure table.
Keep sample tire in the room with temperature of 20°C – 30°C for at least 24 hours. Then
readjust the air pressure to the initial pressure. If size of tire is not included in the
attachment D, then air pressure refer to JATMA, TRA, ETRTO, STRO and TRAA.

6.1.2 Test procedure

6.1.2.1 Overall width
Measure the overall width at standing position by using the caliper. The measurement is
done at four different positions in an equal distance. The overall width value is the highest
of measurement result.

6.1.2.2 Overall diameter

Measure the circumference of the tire using roll meter. The overall diameter is the
measurement result divided by π (π = 3,1416).

6.2 Measurement of TWI

6.2.1 Preparation

Note :
o
In the radial tire the structure of the carcass are laid substantially at 90 to the centre line of the
tread. The radial tire have belt ply cord that placed under the tread. The function of belt is to reduce
tread movement when contact to the road surface, therefore it will improve the tire life, while the
carcass still flexing.
