Introduction
Thank you for purchasing CABINET VISION Version 12. This document will guide you through the
installation process so that you can begin to use your new CABINET VISION software.

We will outline two separate types of installation, one is a ‘Server/Single-User’ installation, and the other
is a ‘Workstation’ installation.

The Server/Single-User installation section covers the process of installing the CABINET VISION software
on a single computer, for a single user. When installing to a Server, you will need to complete certain
additional steps that are outlined at the end of the Server/Single-User section of this document.

The Workstation installation section covers the process of installing the CABINET VISION software on a
workstation using the network media provided when the Server is properly installed. Aside from the
steps needed to begin the installation, they are identical to the Server/Single-User installation.

If you have any trouble installing the applications outlined in this document, please contact technical
support by one of the following methods:

Before you Begin
There are certain things that must be done prior to beginning the installation process of CABINET
VISION.

All Installations:
1) Ensure that your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements found at the
following webpage: http://www.cabinetvision.com/systemrequirements
2) Ensure that all ‘running’ applications are exited
3) Ensure that your anti-virus is disabled during the installation process
4) OPTIONALLY: You have access to the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Key and have a free USB port
on your computer. By default, your License will be locked to your computer rather than a USB
key.
5) Ensure that you have administrative privileges on the computer on which you are attempting to
install CABINET VISION.

Multi-User Installation:
1) Ensure that all users that will have CABINET VISION installed have full administration privileges
on the network.
2) If you are installing on a server, ensure that you can ‘reboot’ the server after installation is
complete.

S2M Center for Alphacam Users:

1) Ensure that a valid installation of Alphacam 2003 or higher is properly licensed and running.

Additional Information
This section contains additional information that may be needed to completely install the product suite.

Security Key (Dongle)

OPTIONAL: Unless you chose to purchase a security key your License will be tied to your computer. If
purchased, CABINET VISION may come with a Software Security Key (Dongle).

If you have purchased a Network License a Security Key is not required (unless running the Server as
a Virtual Machine) and the License will be tied to your Server hardware.

Attaching the security key to your computer

Look at the USB key, there will be a port on your computer that matches the end of the key. Simply
plug the USB key into this port. If you have not used a USB device before on this computer, a Wizard
may start to install the USB device drivers on your computer. Simply follow the prompts on your screen
to install the USB drivers.

If you already have USB devices plugged in and you don’t have a free USB port, you will need to
purchase a USB hub. This is a device that allows you to plug in more than one USB device at a time.
These are reasonably priced and can be found most places where computer hardware is sold.

Page 17
Setting up the Network License
If you are not running a Version of CABINET VISION prior to Version 10 then the PKeyServerCLS is
not required.

For a Multi-User installation, the Network License that is used may have more than one license on it.
To access any of the licenses available to you, you will need to have the License installed on a computer
which is available on the Network. We recommend, but it is not required, that the Network License be
installed on the same Server where CABINET VISION is installed.

Without Previous Versions of CV (or CW)

When launching CABINET VISION v12 you will be presented with the License Setup wizard.
Following the on-screen prompts to install the License.

For more information see the License Manager Help file.

With Pre-Version 10 of CV (or any Version of CW)

Follow onscreen prompts above then perform the following additional steps:

1. Open the PKeyServer interface and verify it is running with the Vacant licenses.
2. Go to C:\Planit\Common or C:\Cabinet Vision\Common and launch the PKeyTest. Note: This
must be performed physically on the Computer with the Key and cannot be performed via
Remote Desktop.
3. Click the Test button.
4. Click the little “Test” icon in the upper left of the window, to the left of Vero.
5. Click the KeyServerCLS Package button and save the .ksp file to C:\Planit\Common or
C:\Cabinet Vision\Common.
6. Close the PKeyTest window.
7. Bring up the PKeyServer interface again and click File | Stop.
8. Remove the security key from the computer.
9. Go to C:\Planit\Common or C:\Cabinet Vision\Common and launch the PKeyServerCLS.exe.

Page 18
10. Click on File | Import Package and browse to the Common folder to which you previously saved
the .KSP file and double-click the file.
11. Click the Start button at the bottom. (Note: Unlike with the previous PKeyServer interface you
will not see Vacant licenses. All you will see is Status = Running.)
12. Try to open your pre- Version10.0 product on the server.

Once you have verified that your legacy Versions of CABINET VISION and/or Cabnetware are running
properly please return your old CV/CW Network Key as your new License is only valid for thirty days
and will not be regenerated until we receive the old CV/CW Network Key.

Setting up the Network Administrator

To setup the Network Administrator:

In Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or 10 go to the Modern UI by pressing then right click and select All
Apps then scroll to the CABINET VISION 12 group and select Network Admin. If you do not see the
Network Administrator in the CABINET VISION 12 group, it could be in the S2M CENTER 12 group
or in the same location it was for a previously installed Version.

In previous versions of Windows click on the ‘Start’ button and select All Programs | CABINET VISION
12 | Network Admin.

This will display the Login screen:

Ensure that the Administrator account is select and click the ‘OK’ button. The password, by default, is
empty, so you won’t have to enter one during the initial setup.

Page 19
This will display the Network Administrator window:

This portion is only necessary if you are running legacy Versions of CV/CW. The first thing that you
need to do is click on the ‘Key Server’ tab, this will allow you to set the port the Key Server is
broadcasting the licenses across the network:

The ‘Server Name’ box needs to have the name of the computer that has the PKey Server running on it.
You can either enter the computer’s name, its IP Address*, or use the box at the bottom to browse for
the computer.

*It is only recommended to use the IP Address of the computer if it is using a Static IP Address,
computers with DHCP enabled may cause the software to not be able to locate a license to operate
when the IP Address is renewed.

Next, you will need to unlock the users so that you can open the software. Click on the ‘Status’ tab:

Click ‘Unlock Users’ to allow all users access to the software.

Using the Network Licenses

See the License Manager Help file for information on using Network Licenses.
