1 GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION

The European continent is located in the northern hemisphere and it could be said that it
is like a peninsula of the Asian continent. It is separated from Asia by the Ural
mountains. With an extension of 10,395,469 square kilometers, It represents 7% of the
world's land surface. After Oceania, Europe is the smallest continent but the most
densely populated.

In terms of the geographical limits of Europe, it is limited: To

the North by the Arctic Ocean.
To the South by the Mediterranean Sea
To the East by the Ural mountains, Caspian Sea, Caucasus and Ural river. To the
West with the Atlantic Ocean.

The extreme points of Europe taking into account only the continental mass without
taking into account the islands are:
North: Cape North in Norway
South; tip of tariff in Spain
East: coast of the sea kara in Russia
West: cape of rock in Portugal

Europe is surrounded by oceans, the Arctic Ocean to the North and the Atlantic
Ocean to the West. The Atlantic ocean is divided into the Cantabrian, Celtic,
North, Norwegian, Baltic and White seas. In the Arctic Ocean lies the
Barents Sea and kara. In the Mediterranean it has the Ligurian, Tyrrhenian,
Ionian Adriatic, Aegean, Marmara, Black and Azov seas.

The coastline of Europe presents a set of coastlines with very accidental shapes. The
length of the coastline is about 38,000 km. The characteristics of its coastlines can be
grouped according to the ocean or sea it bathes, thus we have:
 The Arctic Ocean coastline. It is a coast that remains constantly frozen.
 The coasts of the Atlantic Ocean: The best landscapes can be found in
the long inlets called fjords. Those of Norway or Sweden are splendid. We
highlight the Canary Islands on this coast de la Luz in Spain, the Algarve in
Portugal, the northern coasts of Spain, the Emerald Coast or Normandy in
France.
 The Mediterranean coast: the Levante and the Balearic Islands in Spain,
the Costa Azul in France, the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, Liguria in Italy, the
Mirambello coast in Crete, the Attica coast in Greece, the Turquoise Coast in
Turkey.

4 HYDROGRAPHIC NETWORK

Europe has a large number of rivers. All of them pour their waters into the different
seas and oceans that the continent has. These slopes with their main rivers are:
 Atlantic Ocean: the rivers Guadalquivir, Guadiana, Tajo, Duero,
Garona, Loire and Seine flow into
 The North Sea flow into the rivers Thames, Meuse, Rhine, Weser,
and Elbe.
 Baltic Sea: flow into the rivers Oder, Vistula, Nemen, Western Dvina
and Torne.
 The White Sea: flow into the Northern Dvina, Onega and Mezen.
 Barents Sea where the Pechora river flows.
 Mediterranean Sea: where the Ebro, Rhône, Tiber and Po rivers flow
into.
 Black sea: where the Danube, the Dniester, the Dnieper and the Bug
flow into.
 Azov sea: the Don and Kuban rivers flow
 Caspian Sea: flows into the Volga, the Kura and the Ural
