HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Burgos was once a sitio of Gapo called Bayog, named after the creek that runs
through it legends tells that after the creek that runs thru. The legend tells that during World
War II, an American reached Bayog. He met an old man sheltered under a Bugos tree. The
American asked the man “what is the name of the tree?’’ the man answered “the name of the
tree is Bugos”. The name of the tree he was sheltering on. The American presumed the name
of the place was Bugos. The name eventually eveolved to BURGOS.
Burgos, became a barangay in 1921 thru the effort of Municipal Councilor Lucio
