AGENCY PROFILE

Don Bosco Elementary School (FSES Annex) is located at El Dorado Dulo, Better Living
Subdivision Barangay Don Bosco Parañaque City. It was founded in 2015 through the efforts of City
Mayor Hon. Edwin L. Olivarez, who has high regard for education. The mayor made it a point to
make academic excellence a big part of his administration’s agenda. To make this a reality, he made
it a priority to build a public elementary and high school in every barangay in Parañaque. This gave
rise to the construction of Don Bosco National High School building.

On June 1, 2015, the school had started its operation with 17 teachers and 614 pupils from
Kindergarten to Grade 6 under the administration of Mrs. Reena G. Orquina, the OIC – Principal of
Don Bosco National High School. The high school was then on its second year of operation.
Mrs. Reena Orquina headed both elementary and high school, which made it an integrated school.
By the end of the school year, March 2016, DBES had its first batch of completers during the
Kindergarten Moving-Up Ceremony and graduates during the Grade 6 Awarding of Graduation
Certificate. While the elementary pupils were temporarily housed in the high school building, the
construction of a 4-storey building for elementary was in progress until it was finally built and was
ready for use in 2016.

It was during School Year 2016-2017, when elementary left the high school building and had
its first year in the new building under the administration of Dr. Edwin S. Doria. He was assigned as
the OIC-Principal on June 13, 2016 by Dr. Maria Magdalena M. Lim, CESO V, the Schools Division
Superintendent.

Towards the end of the school year 2016-2017, Dr. Doria was given another assignment.
Consequently, a new OIC-Principal of elementary was welcomed in the person of Mrs. Desiree B.
Arriola. She officially started her administration in Don Bosco Elementary School on February 2017,
the time when high school and elementary had already their separate administration. With
Mrs. Arriola’s dynamism and hardwork, DBES took evident progress in many aspects. One was the
notable increase in enrolment which prompted the school to hire three new teachers. For this school
year the school has 28 teachers and 10 non-teaching personnel who are collaboratively working for
and teaching 802 pupils, number of enrollees as to date.

To date, the school population is 1,121 pupils and has 19 instructional classrooms. There is a
consistent increase in the number of enrollees for the past four years. Based on the table on School
Enrolment, the school enrolment increased by 8.31% compared from the previous enrolment. This is
a good indication that the school’s population is getting bigger and more learners are being served
by the institution. Each class ranges from 40 as the minimum and a maximum of 45 pupils per
classroom. We have enough number of seats per class to accommodate the number of pupils. The
school has operational local pipe through Maynilad for water sources that could be used for hand
washing and cleaning purposes. Each floor has water dispenser for drinking purposes. There are 4
male and 4 female functional toilets that are regularly cleaned and utilized.

The School Performance Indicators


In the last three years, there is an increase number of nationally funded teachers, from 27 to
30 and now we have thirty-three (33) teachers with Teacher I position and one (1) teacher having
Master Teacher I position. Teachers have full-time teaching loads and other special assignments.
FSES-Don Bosco implements semi-annual school-based trainings, regular coaching and mentoring
to enhance their teaching skills. Some of the teachers are also enrolled in Master’s Degree courses
in education for them to become adept with the current trends in the educational system.

FSES-Don Bosco is currently implementing various projects such as Project SMART


(Support a Mind through Advanced Reading Techniques). This project was introduced to enhance
and improve the reading skills of pupils under Frustration Level. There are different interventions
provided by the teachers to decrease the number of non-readers in the school. Assigned teachers
with this endeavor also encourage the parents to follow up pupils’ progress at home because the
school adheres to the belief that it takes a community to educate a child. Our stakeholders from both
private and government sectors continuously exert their effort to help out prepare the school to
become more conducive for learning. During Brigada Eskwela General Assemblies and other school
functions, the GPTA and HPTA worked hand in hand with us to make our school a better place for
our pupils. We also have Project SMILE which encourages teachers to wear their best smile in their
everyday teaching process. The happy disposition of each teacher is considered infectious to their
learners and creates a positive atmosphere in the learning environment. Oplan SAGIP OSY aims to
eradicate Out of School Youth in the community through mapping and home visitations. To address
the call on education, we really prepare our pupils to become globally competitive and well-rounded
individuals. The biggest source of school funding comes from the MOOE, other sources are canteen
funds and donations.

Application for Early Registration

Early Registration ensures that all school-aged children and even the out-of-school youth
(OSY) are in school with the end-goal of completing their basic education. Particularly, incoming
Kinder and Grade 1 students must be registered to guarantee the enrollment of 5- to 6-year-olds,

Application for Enrollment

Enrollment is the process of collecting and recording of data of the learners who will register
for a particular school. F. Serrano Sr. Elementary School-Don Bosco accepts incoming
Kindergarten, Grade 1-6, Transferees, Balik-aral, and ALS learners. Enrollment in public school like
FSES-Don Bosco is free of charge. Enrollment can be processed offline or online. Learners who

Distribution of Printed Self-Learning Modules

The process of Distributing Self Learning Modules of the learners to the parents in school.
Self-Learning Modules are intended to use as one of the learning modalities for distance education.
As we are in the midst of pandemic, it is one as prescribed by the DepEd to use in distance
education to cater our learners’ need and to adapt in the education system. Learners and parents
