Start By:
a. Remove the track adjuster. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Adjuster - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component
should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Note the location and the position of retainer (2) and roller frame (1) for installation purposes. Note the
distance of retainer (2) from roller frame (1). Retainer (2) should stick out 7.0 ± 2.0 mm
(0.28 ± 0.08 inch).
2. Install Tooling (A) in roller frame (1). Install Tooling (B) in the center of retainer (3).
3. Install Tooling (H) on Tooling (A). Install Tooling (D) in the center of Tooling (H).
4. Install Tooling (E) and Tooling (C) on Tooling (D).
5. Install Tooling (G), Tooling (J), and Tooling (K) on Tooling (A). Use Tooling (F) to apply pressure on
Tooling (E).
NOTICE
The recoil spring retainer must never be more then 12.7 mm
(0.50 inch) from the recoil spring while the spring is being removed. Be
sure the pressure reading on the pressure gauge of the tool gradually
decreases during all the steps of the procedure.
6. Extend Tooling (E) to 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) less then maximum travel. Use Tooling (K) to adjust
Tooling (H) to the back of the cylinder. Keep Tooling (H) parallel to roller frame (1).
7. Pressurize Tooling (E). Remove the spring tension on retainer (3). Back off retainer (3) to a dimension
of 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) with the use of Tooling (L).
8. Release the pressure on Tooling (E). The spring will rest on the retainer. Tooling (H) should be parallel
to roller frame (1). Apply pressure to Tooling (E). Remove the spring tension on retainer (3). Back off
retainer (3) 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) with the use of Tooling (L).
9. Release the pressure on Tooling (E). The spring will rest on retainer (3). Tooling (H) should be parallel
with roller frame (1). Apply pressure to Tooling (E). Remove the spring tension on retainer (3). Back
off retainer (3) 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) with the use of Tooling (L).
10. Release the pressure on Tooling (E). Back off Tooling (K). Tooling (H) should slide away from roller
frame (1).
11. Extend Tooling (E) to 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) less than maximum travel. Use Tooling (K) to adjust
Tooling (H) to the back of Tooling (E). Keep Tooling (H) parallel to roller frame (1). Pressurize
Tooling (E). Remove the spring tension of retainer (3). Use Tooling (L) to back off retainer (3) to a
dimension of 12.7 mm (0.50 inch).
12. Release the pressure on Tooling (E). Allow the spring to seat against the retainer. Adjust Tooling (H)
to the back of the cylinder. Keep Tooling (H) parallel to roller frame (1). Pressurize Tooling (E).
Remove the spring tension on retainer (3). Back off retainer (3) to a dimension of 12.7 mm (0.50 inch)
with the use of Tooling (L).
13. Release the pressure on Tooling (E). The spring will rest on the retainer. Tooling (H) should be parallel
with roller frame (1). Apply pressure to Tooling (E). Remove the spring tension on retainer (3). Back
off retainer (3) 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) with the use of Tooling (L).
14. Release the tension of Tooling (E). The spring will rest on retainer (3). If any spring tension is
remaining repeat this procedure until there is no spring tension. If no spring tension is available
remove all Tooling from roller frame (1).
Note: If any spring tension is remaining, remove the nuts and washers. Remove spacers (G) and install
the nuts and the washers against the plate. Repeat the previous steps.
15. Remove retainer (3) from roller frame (1).
16. Remove plate assembly (4) from roller frame (1).
17. Use a suitable lifting device to remove recoil spring (5). The weight of recoil spring (5) is
approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

4. Install Tooling (E) and Tooling (C) on Tooling (D).

15. Remove retainer (3) from roller frame (1).

16. Remove plate assembly (4) from roller frame (1).
