Objective

Study and analysis of rain patterns of last five years stands as an outstanding opportunity to dedicate
time :

To reveal how the rainfall has changed its course over the past years

To study and analyse in depth the future consequences (boons and banes ) of the prevailing
circumstances

To search the answers of as to why the rainfall is becoming predominantly unpredictable

To study the past actions which are responsible for this change in rains

To educate ourselves about the present practises for tackling the persisting unreliable scenario of
rains

To find out the steps which can be taken on individual level as a contribution for a global cause

To elucidate the content in words of observations and results as well as graphs

METHODOLOGY

Methodology in its simplest terms refers to the systematic method to resolve a research
problem through data gathering using various techniques, providing an interpretation of data
gathered and drawing conclusions about research data. Methodology which describes out the
plan of action , is one of the most indispensable part in a project as it leads us to the answers
of the questions we have raised. This steps involving planning and plotting as to how a given
issue can be decoded. In fields of professional research, research goes beyond the process of
gathering information, rather, it is also about finding answers to unanswered questions as part
of discovering and creating new knowledge. And in order for this newly discovered or
created knowledge to be recognised, one has to prove that it is valid. Determination of the
validity of your study is anchored on research papers methodology. Various tools have been
designed to collect data efficiently. For examples- surveys, interviews, questionnaires.
Surveys seek to quantify data and generalize results from a sample target population. It may
also take aid of objective analysis using statistical methods. On the other hand interviews are
geared towards creating a complete and detailed description by questioning a researcher or a
person in capacity of experience and knowledge. Rather than providing predictions or casual
explanations the qualitative method offers contextualisation. This methodology is subjective
and requires a smaller number of carefully chosen respondents. The compositions of the
questions were based on answering the general goals of the study. Then, the project coordinator to
make sure the questions were not susceptible to be perceived as rude or to personal verified them.
Afterwards, the coordinator of the project was responsible for finding people that might be interested
in answering the interviews. The usually chosen ppl are young and active people of the community
as they could have a good and objective insight on the intricacies of the community.

For studying and analysing the changing course of rains , conducting an interview of a professional
was chosen to be the prime mode for completion of project. An interview classifies under a qualitative
research technique which involves asking open ended questions to converse with respondents and
collect elicit data about a subject. The interviewer in most cases is the subject matter expert who
intends to understand respondents opinions in a well planned and executed series of questions and
answers. To acquire information on the chosen matter of concern , question for the interview revolved
around verifying whether the topic of study had been visibly noticed under the interviewers
jurisidiction . The next few series of questions paralled on understanding what could be the citing
reason for the changing rain and what could be the consequences of the actions . untimely rains have
a direct impact on lives of farmers who are solely depended on rains as a prime factor of irrigation.
What has been the outlook of government on this problem and related. Rains been a natural
phenomenon stands outside the scope of man control but analysing and preparing for the
consequences should be considered as the main course of action. On understanding how deeply the
changing rain patterns can affect human life in an agrarian country like ours , I seeked to get the
answers of the following questionnaire to attempt concluding results and analysis –

Following questions had been emailed to the concerned authority, MR SHIVRAJ GHORPADE, the
agricultural officer of Ratnagiri . Answers were seeked in a written form via emails.

The questions:
1) Is the changing course of rainfall prominently noticeable?
2) If yes, what are the consequences of this change on agriculture as well as the farmers
livelihood?
3) What would you cite as a probable reason for changing rain pattern?
4) What is your take as a government representative on this scenario?
5) Are there any suggestions for the farmers to help them cope with the untimely rains?
6) If the present condition persists , what does the future of indian agriculture look like?
