REFLECTION WRITING
1. I choose the principle of solidarity out of the ten principles. The importance of working for the
greater good and the interdependence of all people are both emphasized by this notion. It
acknowledges the interconnectedness of all people and their status as members of a broader
human family. It emphasizes the notion that we are accountable to one another and should take an
interest in one another’s welfare.

Solidarity advocates for the belief that society ought to be set up such that everyone benefits, not
just a select few. It urges the adoption of laws and measures that put the welfare of the
community before personal interests. It nudges people to feel sympathy for the disadvantaged or
suffering. It demands sensitivity to the needs of others and a dedication to easing their suffering.

2. When we experience conflict or dissatisfaction with our closed relationships we sometimes don’t
address the problem with them and end up telling other people. This is often where the real
conflict starts. Disagreements and disappointments are always there but even our negative
emotions need to be confronted and not push aside. This is what Jesus is trying to teach us during
this Sunday’s gospel. If there is something you don’t agree upon with someone it is important that
you address it directly with them. We shouldn’t go behind someone’s back just because we didn’t
get along well with them and spread what can be discussed with them to the community at large.
Communication forms friendship, makes bonds stronger and fosters unity in the community.
