What to do if adjustments to an existing PLC program are needed (upload, change, download) but the

required version of the programming software is not available (engineer/company not in bussiness anymore) ?
Does Siemens provide download links for older versions to help out in such cases ?

in the past it was easy. I've downloaded the TIA Portal trial-software, to use it for
a trial period of 21 days with full functionality.

But things have changed in the meantime:

Depending on the TIA version originally used to load a project into the PLC,
sometimes you need an empty TIA-project for the compatibility mode of the
subsequent version.
