In this application very high requirements are placed to the bearing.
The bearings are manufactured at the FAG location in Wuppertal.
 Single toggle jaw crushers are used as coarse crushers
and fine crushers. The jaw has one stationary jaw and
one swing jaw which works by a pitman (swing jaw)
mounted on two bearings on an eccentric shaft. This
shaft is located in two outer bearings supported in the
crusher body. The shaft is turned using a pulley drive
and flywheel, which turns the swing jaw in an eccentric
motion whilst pivoting on a toggle arrangement at the
bottom of the swing jaw.

Spherical roller bearings are installed on the main
shaft (inner bearings; a) and in the crusher frame
(outer bearings; b).
It is necessary for the bearings to have a high load
rating and compensation of misalignment because of
the heavy duties out of the crushing process.
Therefore on the main shaft of the Jaw crusher there
are spherical roller bearings installed:
Outer system

Dimensioning
The dynamic capacity for bearings used in jaw crushers
were calculated according to a formula which is lent to
an empirical derived formula by A. Bonewetsch.
The Schaeffler KG Schweinfurt has revised together
with BL-PEGSON the bearings of the “M” Series Jaw
crusher.
By using a special designed bearing for this application
developed for force – measuring by strain gauges it
was possible to measure forces acting in service.

With strain gauges the acting forces were measured
and analyzed by a special computer program.
This action results in a new formula to calculate the
bearing loads more realistic and to size the bearings
in an economic way.
