Challenges in Education during Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic has given us a glimpse into how technology can help us maintain
educational continuity in the future. However, because education is about acquiring knowledge
and values, cooperation, and competence, technology cannot replace teachers, lectures, and
learning exchanges between students and teachers. This pandemic challenges each individual's
innovation in employing technology to advance education. At the same time, this problem
presents a chance to demonstrate how technology may prepare students for the twenty-first
century. Through schooling, self-directed or independent learning is essential in the twenty-first
century.

Various online seminars or webinars might develop and instill the habit of being independent
learners during this pandemic era. Furthermore, students can collaborate to solve learning
problems and deal with real-world issues. This circumstance presents a dilemma for students and
professors regarding imparting education, as lecturers must ensure that students comprehend the
subject.

The Covid-19 pandemic has also caused policymakers to adapt to the learning process. This
adjustment is made through the “Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka” (MB-KM) policy, where
students can receive more comprehensive learning experiences and new competencies through
different learning activities outside their study curriculum. During the pandemic, the Directorate
General of Higher Education ran programs for Covid-19 control volunteers (RECON),
"Thematic KKN," Mengajar Dari Rumah" (MDR), and Permata Sakti. Hundreds of thousands of
students from throughout Indonesia participated in the program.

On the other side, Indonesia can emerge from the pandemic and become a green nation during
this pandemic phase. Given the limited community activities outside of the home during the
pandemic, the environment has improved due to lower exhaust emissions.
