ABSTRACT

The first suspected case in the Philippines was investigated on January 22, 2020, and 633

suspected cases were reported as of March 1. We describe the clinical and epidemiological

aspects of the first two confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, both admitted to the

national infectious disease referral hospital in Manila. This has brought a lot of changes in the

lives of everyone. All places or nationwide has put under quarantine and all estblishments is

closed including factories, companies, working firms and also the churches, markets, malls and

schools.

Upon the said quarantine, we are all forced to embrace and adapt the " new normal" in order to

continue education despite of the pamdemic. Institutions provide tactics on how the students

and teachers would be able to easily adapt to the new way of learning for the students be given

the best quality yet affordable education. Not only teachers but also the students have been

encounter challenges to surpass each school day that helped them to obtain skills in order to

learn yhe things they have to be learned. With these changes, there are factors that affected the

learning of the students.

The intended purpose of this paper seeks to address the effects of online teaching-learning in

the communication between students and instructors of Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa. The

topic " The Effects of Online Learning in Communication Between Instructor and Students

during COVID-19 Pandemic" was chosen by the researchers to identify and elaborate the

effects of communication to the online teaching-learning.It is also to know whether the

communication affects or hinder in the good flow of the educational system in this time that we

are facing this kind of situation.

During this time of pandemic, everyone is having a hard time in dealing to anything that

requires to be done face to face interaction especially in our educational system. They sees the

pandemic as a hindrance for every one to learn because some of the students are having barrier

in order to cope up with online class and understand specific lessons plus the other reasons

such as lack of equipment like laptops and mobile phone as well as the signal for them to

access in order to meet thier professors and classmate in any media platform. With this online

learning, gadgets, internet connection or mobile data, will be the most important thing in this

kind of platform to adapt the new normal.

The value of this paper is to draw a holistic picture of ongoing online teaching-learning

activities during the lockdown period including establishing effective communication linkage

between students and instructors online teaching-learning process in education system amid the

COVID-19 outbreak so as to overcome the persisting academic disturbance and consequently

ensure the resumption of educational activities and discourses as a normal course of procedure

in the education system and to address how effective the communication between students and

parents during this online- distance learning.
