2. Body
2.1
B: What could be a better fit for Halloween than joining our club in this SHOW
tonight? We have prepared stimulating activities and performances for you. We
bet, you will be surprised about that. Let's start!
A: To open our Halloween Festival, we have a stage of vibrant dancing show by
students in grades 10 and 11. They will create a lively atmosphere for us with the
song – MASHUP HALLOWEEN. Let's cheer for them!

B: Thank you very much for your excellent performance. Such an impressive
curtain-raiser, right? Now, to know more about this festival, why don't we take
some time to listen to some old stories about the birth of Halloween?
2.2
A: Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31st. This day marked
the end of summer and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year often
associated with human death. This is also where the history of Halloween gains its
"haunted" connotations.
B: The ancient Celts of Samhain believed that the night before the new year, the
boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the
night of October 31st, they celebrated Samhain when it was believed that the
ghosts of the dead returned to earth. People thought that they would encounter
ghosts if they left their homes.
A: To avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks and dress
in costumes when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake
them for fellow spirits. To keep ghosts away, people would place bowls of food
outside their homes to appease the ghosts or burn bonfires to prevent them from
attempting to enter.
B: Over time, this festival has become more and more popular around the world.
Only in the second half of the 19th century that Irish and Scottish immigrants
began to arrive in America in more significant numbers that the holiday took hold
as part of the national zeitgeist. It's estimated that by the early 20th century,
Halloween was celebrated across North America by the majority of people.
A: By the 1920s and 1930s, Halloween had become a community-centered
holiday, with parades and town-wide Halloween parties as the featured
entertainment. Famous Halloween symbols such as witches, ghosts, and goblins
became associated with the holiday.
B: Moreover, Halloween has always been filled with mystery, magic, and
superstition with a lot of fun activities. You can decorate pumpkins, turn your
home into a haunted house, experiment with a unique Halloween makeup tutorial,
and especially trick or treating.
A: Through our sharing, I hope you will find the meaning of the Halloween
Festival appealing. Remember to keep those information in mind because it will be
necessary for the following parts.
2.3
B: I am sure you are all curious to see our next performance. Please warmly
welcome Kim Tuyen from 10V1 with a romantic song – Someone You Loved by
Lewis Calpadi.

A: That was such a fantastic performance! Please give her a round of applause
again!
2.4
B: Our atmosphere is going to be hotter with the next performance. Please
welcome Vinh Quan from 12A2 with his solo dance. Let's give a big clap for him.

A: Wow, it's such an amazing dancing show. Everybody seems to be more excited
about this, right?
2.5
B: Now, let's move to an entertaining activity. We are going to play a game called
Fun Quiz. Are you guys ready?
A: I will read a question about Halloween. Only the fastest person to raise their
hand will answer. But the others still have another chance if this answer is wrong.
B: So let's listen carefully. The winners will receive a lot of prizes from the host.
And no waiting longer, please pay attention to our questions right now.
A: Let's begin with an easy one – WHAT DATE IS HALLOWEEN? (31/10)
B: Now is a level up – WHICH COUNTRY IS BELIEVED TO BE THE
BIRTHPLACE OF HALLOWEEN? (Ireland)
A: Turn to the third question – TRADITIONALLY, WHAT ANIMAL IS
ASSOCIATED WITH WITCHES? (Black cat)

IN VIETNAMESE? (Cho kẹo hay bị ghẹo)
A: Oh, an interesting question here. CAN YOU NAME 5 SYMBOLS OF
HALLOWEEN? (Ghost, vampire, witch, angel, pumpkin,...)

B: Next, we have a duet performance to liven up the atmosphere. Let's warmly
welcome to Bao Ngoc from class 10B2 and Tra My from class 10B1 with an
energetic song named Price Tag composed by the famous musician Jessie J!

A: What an incredible performance that is! It truly makes everybody more excited.
2.7.
B: Next, instead of listening to a song, we will make a change by letting everyone
enjoy a dramatic play - Turning point to the adulthood. The play whose diectors is
Minh Thy 12A1 and Nhu Y 11V2, will show you a girl in the adolescent - 17 years
old without careful thinking. What she did has led to serious problems. No need to
wait any longer, let’s pay attention to the show.

A: How interesting that is! I’ve never witnessed such a lively and touching
performance like this before. This play reflects the indifference of family to the
youngs and brings good lessons to us, about friends, love and common teenage
issues.
2.8.
B: Let's proceed to another duet performance, this time, Nhu Ngoc and Ai Hue
from class 10A2 will perform the song “Baby”, composed by the Prince of Pop,

give them a big clap again?
