Festivals are Happy Places and you don't really want to
enjoy them on your own.

It was a beautiful morning where the pale blue sky was

floating with white clouds, hiding the fire ball behind it.
The cool breeze blowing the leaves beside the road the
birds leaping back and forth on the tree as if indicating
that a new day has begun.
Being a brand-new day, all the festivals of Netherland
were headed to the nearest coffee shop to decide who
was going to be the ruler of festiverse in Netherland.

<Settled in coffee shop>

New year: Being Oud and nieuw, I am the most classic

holiday of the Dutch. People spend a lot of money on
Fireworks which are extremely loud but not that
pretty. People also get drunk on my occasion and party
hard. I am without doubt, the winner winner chicken
dinner of festiverse.

Carnaval: Oh, please new year, you are the most basic
holiday which is mundane all around the globe, nothing
new in you. We'll, I am carnaval, also known as
vasteloavend, a festival where everybody dresses up in
a weird and funny manner in the 3 colors of carnaval -
they are: red, yellow and green.
Elaborate costumes and masks allow people to set
aside their everyday individuality and experience a
heightened sense of social unity.
I am celebrated from the 11th of November until a few
weeks before Easter where everybody drinks alcohol as
they are happy. It's a happy affair of togetherness and
fun. You know I've heard that you can't talk to losers
about winning cause there is no language. Give me my
trophy.

Easter: Stop quoting 'sarcastic comments' from Google

alright. Hallo! I am Pasen, or in English, Easter. I
celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. On my day,
the Easter Bunny shows up and everybody searches for
eggs, they have an egg destroying competition and an
egg painting competition. Basically, on my day people
love eggs. I am celebrated in April and bring
enthusiasm, joy and happiness to the table. Not one
second is dull on my day! So, I wish everyone a long life
so you can see me on the throne of festiverse.

Koningsdag: Isn't it obvious that people love eggs on

that day and are sick of it the very next day.?
Whatever, I am King's Day, a national holiday in the
Kingdom of the Netherlands. I mark the birth of our
King Willem Alexander on the 27th April. Citizens wear
orange costumes, which symbolizes royal pride, stems
from the royal family name: The Nassau Family, House
of Orange. You will see a lot of flags raised in the
country. I am the most reverted festival and thus win
this competition. Long live the king!

Liberation Day: Yes, National Holiday, Thank you so

much for your excuse as a festival but I'm the real
national festival out here. Every year, we celebrate that
the Netherlands was liberated from German
occupation in 1945. The flag is hoisted throughout the
country and liberation festivals are held everywhere.
These festivals are celebrated on 5th May. After
liberation in 1945, Liberation Day was celebrated every
five years. In 1990 the day was declared a national
holiday when it will be celebrated every year. Festivals
are held in most places in the Netherlands with
parades of veterans and musical festivals throughout
the country. I'm the Freedom Day which is the dream
of every Dutch so I technically win right?
Sinterklaas: Oh, Wow Liberation Day! You are also just
a national holiday which is basically an Independence
Day. I am the most joyous festival especially for
children. I am a man who gives a lot of candies and
cookies to children. I also have helpers called pietens
to help him.
Pietens: Hi! As you can say, we have coal all over my
face. It's done to make children believe that they enter
the house through the chimneys.
Sinterklaas: We are basically another version of
Christmas but more fun unlike any other festivals.

Christmas: Sinterklaas is such a copycat right?

Sinterklaas: Don't you dare Christmas.

Christmas: Whatever, In the Netherlands, they

celebrate my festival Christmas both on the 25th and
the 26th of December. During this Dutch festival they
spend two days with their family, playing games,
watching movies and eating some traditional Christmas
food. Music has an important role in Dutch Christmas
traditions. Dutch Christmas songs are played on the
radio, in the shopping malls and markets. Well I'm with
the most significance so I Win.

Easter: No, I win

Sinterklaas: No guys, I win!
Christmas: No it’s me.

(Lot of commotion about winning)

Coffeeshop worker: Can you please keep your volume

down.

Easter: Wait guys I don't think anyone wins. We all are

festivals, aren't we?

Carnaval: Yeah. Why are we fighting on such a stupid

topic?
New Year: we all are have our own significances and
meaning which makes us not better but unique from
each other.

Liberation Day: Yes. We should respect each other as

we all together make a part of the festiverse

Koningsdag: Together we make the Dutch Festivals.

Narrator:
We are all the culture of the Festivals. A way to
celebrate all aspects of life. So, let’s enjoy all the
festivals with a huge smile!
