    A utility pole is a column or post usually made out of wood, steel, concrete used to support overhead
    power lines and various other public utilities, such as electrical cable, fiber optic cable, and related
    equipment such as transformers and street lights.

    Advancements in technology, there are ongoing efforts to develop more durable and sustainable
    materials for utility poles, such as composite materials made from fiberglass or recycled plastics.

    Some of the other factors driving the adoption of utility poles are the expansion of existing electricity
    networks, increase in electricity access rate in developing and underdeveloped countries, and the
    introduction of monopoles.
