Standard Operating Procedure for the OQ of Precisa Balance XB 600M-Carat

Prerequisites
The balance should be switched on for at least 2-3 hours before the start of the test. The location must
be calm and free from vibration. Clean the balance and adjust it. Acclimatize test weights to
surroundings.

Span Calibration (Sensitivity Adjustment)

Maximum permissible error: 0.005 ct
Test weight: 100 g

1. Tare
2. Place the test weight (100 g) on the centre of the weighing pan, print or note the value.
3. Determine the differece between the test weight calibration report and the display.
4. Acceptance criteria: difference between nominal value and display  0.005 ct
5. If the deviation is more than the maximum permissible error, a Precisa service engineer must
perform a span adjustment.

Repeatability
Maximum permissible error: 0.001 ct
Test weight: 100 g

1. Tare the balance

2. Place the test weight (100 g) on the weighing pan, print or note the value.
3. Lift off test weight, tare.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for the next 9 weighing procedure.
5.Acceptance criteria: standard deviation  0.001 ct

Eccentricity Test
Maximum permissible error: 0.0025 ct
Test weight: 40 g

1. Tare
2. Place the test weight (40 g) on the centre of the weighing pan, print or note the value.
3. Shift the weight to the next corner as indicated in the diagram, print or note the value.
4. Repeat for the other 3 corners and again for the centre
5. Acceptance criteria: largest value – smallest value  0.0025ct

Linearity Test by Differential Measurement Method

Maximum permissible error: 0.0015 ct
Reference weight: 20 g
Preload weight: 30 g, 60 g, 90 g

1. Tare the balance

2. Load reference weight, print or note value (W1).
3. Lift off reference weight, load preload stage (30 g), tare.
4. Load reference weight, print or note value (W2).
5. Lift off weights, load next preload stage (60 g), tare.
6. Load reference weight, print or note value (W3).
7. Lift off weights, load preload stage (90 g), tare.
8. Load reference weight, print or note value (W4).

9. Acceptance criteria: 0.0015 ct
