A written comment and checklist showing your child’s observable personal and social development is included to reflect the way that he/she interacts within the
classroom, in the wider College community and as a learner. In this section, students are assessed against a number of work habits. Students will demonstrate
these work habits, Consistently, Usually, Sometimes or Rarely. Student’s performing at the expected level should ‘Usually’ or ‘Consistently’ demonstrate the
Work Habits listed.
Work Habits
The Attitude and Effort scale reflects the student’s individual approach to the specific subject. Wyndham Christian College students are expected to be within
the ‘Very Good’ or ‘Excellent’ range.
Range Description

Very Good Independently and consistently demonstrates the expected work habits.
Good Usually demonstrates the expected work habits.
Satisfactory Needs strategies and support to demonstrate the expected work habits.
Unsatisfactory Unable to show evidence of expected work habits.

Demonstrated Level of Knowledge & Skill

responsibility when approaching new learning. She enjoyed Year 3 and 4 camp, going on excursions and all the special days at school such as
Cross Country, Athletics day and swimming. Yuktha continued to participate in whole class discussions, sharing her ideas and asking questions to
clarify her understanding. She is a responsible member of our class and is always keen to take on extra roles and opportunities. Yuktha can
describe factors that contribute to positive relationships with peers and other people at school. She can select and apply techniques to generate a
range of ideas that extends how problems are solved. She has a positive outlook towards learning and a good range of strategies to help her

Students engage in a variety of texts. They listen to, read, view, and interpret spoken, written and multimodal texts in which the purpose is to inform
and persuade. Texts include traditional picture books, various types of print and digital texts, chapter books, poetry and non-fiction texts are used by
students as models for constructing their own work. Students create a range of imaginative, informative, and persuasive types of texts including
narratives, procedures, poetry, and comprehension. They read different types of texts for specific purposes by combining phonic, semantic,
contextual, and grammatical knowledge using text processing strategies, including monitoring meaning, skimming, scanning, and reviewing. These
texts use varied sentence structures, some unfamiliar vocabulary, high-frequency sight words, a variety of punctuation conventions, as well as
illustrations and diagrams that both support and extend the printed text.

In Term 3, they explore how feelings and perceptions form the basis of actions to protect places and environments that are of special significance.
They learn that sustainability is about the ongoing capacity of the environment to sustain human life and wellbeing and means more than the careful
use of resources and the safe management of waste. They are introduced to different views on how sustainability can be achieved.

Science Year 4 Ms Ruth DEANE

They have been recognising questions that can be investigated scientifically and undertaking investigations. Students learn that forces include
noncontact forces and begin to appreciate that some interactions result from phenomena that can’t be seen with the naked eye. They begin to
appreciate that current systems, such as Earth’s surface, have characteristics that have resulted from past changes and that living things form part
of systems. They begin to quantify their observations to enable comparison and learn more sophisticated ways of identifying and representing
relationships, including the use of tables and graphs to identify trends. They use their understanding of relationships between components of simple
systems to make predictions. They apply their knowledge to make predictions based on interactions within systems, including those involving the
actions of humans.

Teacher:
STEAM Year 3-4 Technology & Engineering Ms Ruth DEANE

During Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) students explore and learn to harness their creative, innovative and
imaginative ideas and approaches to achieve designed solutions. Students examine social and environmental sustainability implications of existing
products and processes to raise awareness of their place in the world. They become aware of the role of those working in design and technologies
occupations and how they think about the way a designed solution might change in the future. Students recognise techniques for documenting
design and production ideas such as basic drawing symbols and use simple flow diagrams. With teacher guidance, they identify and list criteria for
success including in relation to preferred futures and the major steps needed to complete a design task. They show an understanding of the
importance of planning when designing solutions, in particular when collaborating.

Students enhance their perceptual skills by observing the world around them and expressing these observations through different practical
applications of art making. Through observational, imaginative and sensory investigations, students become more knowledgeable and discerning
about their practices as a visual artist. As they make artworks and respond to them, students explore visual expressions based on their
investigations of a range of themes. They make connections between their own artistic intentions and those of other artists. As they experience
visual arts, students draw on artworks from a range of cultures, times and locations. Students learn about visual arts in their community and from
other international locations.

Music Year 4 Mrs Kristy Cochrane

Students make and respond to music independently and collaboratively with their peers and teachers. They extend their understanding of the
elements of music and listen for and perform independent rhythms over an underlying beat. Through listening, composing and performing students
learn about music from a range of cultures, times and locations, both in their community and in other locations. As they make and respond to music,
students investigate the social and cultural contexts of it and the different purposes for music making in communities. They make personal
evaluations of their own and others’ music.
Students use their voices, instruments and equipment, safely and appropriately, individually and in interaction with others. They develop confidence
