History
Pre-20th century
Arithmetic tasks were the original purpose of the abacus. From tools used as
early as 2400 BCE in Babylonia, the Roman abacus was created. Numerous more
reckoning boards and tables have been created since then. A checkered fabric would
be set up on a table in a mediaeval European counting house, and markers would be
moved around on it in accordance with predetermined guidelines to help calculate
amounts of money
William Oughtred, an English clergyman, created the slide rule between 1620
and 1630, not long after the logarithm notion was published. It is an analogue computer
that is operated by hand and can perform multiplication and division. Reciprocals,
squares and square roots, cubes and cube roots, as well as transcendental functions
like exponentials and logarithms, circular and hyperbolic trigonometry, and other
functions, were made available by additional scales as slide rule development
advanced. Routine calculations can still be completed quickly with the help of slide rules
with unique scales. One example is the E6B circular slide rule, which is used to
calculate time and distance on light aircraft.
Measurable quantities are used to represent data in analogue computers.

Speed is the amount of time a computer system needs to execute a task or finish an
activity. It is often recognised that computers perform tasks far faster than people.
People typically think of a second or a minute as a unit of time.
Today's computers are capable of performing 100 million calculations per second, which
is why the industry developed Million Instructions per Second (MIPS) as the criterion to
classify different computers according to speed. Nevertheless, computer systems have
such fast operation capacity that the unit of time is in fractions of a second.
Limitations of computer
Not a single industry in this world has not benefited from computer use. There are
computers everywhere in the planet. from large IT companies to the farming sector. The
advantages of computers have spread to every corner of the globe. They have also
genuinely surpassed humans in terms of speed, dependability, adaptability, and the
ability to operate and store continuously without experiencing fatigue.
Uses of Computer
1. Maintain good posture when you work at the keyboard. To do that you have to sit in
a good quality chair so that it will keep your back comfortable.
2. Adjust your seat so that your elbows and knees are bent at 90 degrees.
3. The monitor should be set at the height of your neck so that it’s top will be near eye
level. Also the monitor should be at arm’s length away from you.
4. When you work on the computer you have to make sure that the lighting of the room
is moderate so that it helps the eyes.
5. Finally and the most important thing: Take small breaks of one or two minutes every
15 to 20 minutes and move around so that your body and eyes will rest.
